Yes, the Giants are "preferable" to the Cards in the same way that a cavity is "preferable" to needing a root canal. It's always a good thing if the Cardinals aren't around in October, but as long as the Giants are, their chances of winning the World Series are annoyingly high.

This Giants team is about as crippled and impotent as Alexander Pope. When their offense is functional, the pitching gives up anywhere from 5-10 runs. When they have good pitching, they can't string together anything on offense. If they have a slim lead going into the ninth, it'll be blown spectacularly. You don't need to worry about a thing.

Besides, it'll probably be the Mets occupying the Giants' spot in the playoffs anyway. At least it's not the Marlins. Anything but the Marlins.

Yeah this Giants team kinda sucks and has no business near the playoffs. Their hitting is still mostly atrocious, and outside of Bummy (and sorta Cueto), you never know what you're gonna get from that pitching staff.

Kinda like the 2014 Giants...

I've had the CHC-HOU ESPN Sunday Night Baseball game on in the background as I was getting some work done, and I just now realized/remembered (in the 9th inning) that this is an interleague matchup.  I am still so not used to HOU being in the American League.  It's so hard for me to watch a Cubs vs. Astros game and not think of them as being division rivals, let alone not think of them as being even in the same league.

The Twins are going to lose 100 and if not for a "hot" July, would be flirting with the 1962 Mets mark.

And Brian Dozier just became the second Twin to hit 40 homers.  It's hard to get excited about that but it's nice to see that happen.

Are you kidding? Well then I hope the Dodgers don't win anything.

That could've been true, but the Giants had to choke away the division to them like they did tonight. :(

It's by Vin's own choice, apparently. He has done home playoff games on the radio previously.

He has his home farewell on Sept. 29 vs Colorado and career farewell on Oct. 2 at San Francisco. He said he didn't want to go into the playoffs and have a couple more billed as potentially his final game or whatever. In his words, he didn't want to have 12 farewells.

Kind of glad the Cubs division title was won in the least celebratory manner possible (during the night based on a Cardinals loss, while Cubs already lost at home to MIL and had gone home for the night).

Bigger fish to fry.  God help this team if they play the Dodgers or Mets.

The Giants-Cardinals game ended around 11:45 pm Chicago time. I'm sure a few of them had some pops in a private event. Today's lineup pretty much confirms.
