SFGiants58
Well, the Giants/Brandon Belt are discussing a multi-year deal. I like the guy, but I'm not sure he's worth all the money the team will probably pay him. Besides, his contract talks will bring the "Posey to 1B" talk that always gets me antsy. FiddySicks
Yeah, so, this Joe Maddon guy... He's pretty good at this whole "managing a baseball team" thing. This just feels like the kind of stuff you've gotta do to break an epic curse. Confuse the baseball Gods with absurdity. It's actually somewhat ingenious. Alex Houston
Even at that size, they look like they could rip your eyes out pretty easy. "And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life... FiddySicks
Seriously, Diamondbacks? Diamondbacks could leave Phoenix if stadium isn’t improved Quote The Diamondbacks hope that Chase Field can be retrofitted to reach a modern state, but made it clear that they would look at stadium options elsewhere if that is not a realistic possibility. BAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!!!!! Yeah, good luck with that one, D Backs. Phoenix barely wants that crappy team. Gary
Well we do want the team(unlike a certain hockey franchise). But yeah I agree, pure bs move. Especially this has been the top story to hit the Valley
OnWis97
That 30-year stadium shelflife seems to be a thing of the past. It's pretty much time to start planning the extortion about ten years into a new ballpark and unleash it after 15 or 20. Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse." Especially this has been the top story to hit the Valley Of course they want the team, because it's their local ball club. But the tune just changed significantly now that the organization has basically said "Give us hundreds of millions of dollars more or we'll leave!". Maricopa County residents have gotten absolutely SHAFTED more than once on crappy stadium deals, they shouldn't even consider standing for another one. The only thing (outside of basic maintenance) that the county/state/city should pay for is cardboard boxes if they're really going to push the issue. Let them leave, and laugh the entire time they're scrambling to find a new venue. Really, let the D Backs do this and they can enjoy their fans NOT going to see them play in their new open air facility out in Queen Creek all summer long. ICTknight
Is chase field(or whatever it's called now) really that bad? It didn't seem so when I was there in early 2013.
chrysleraspen08
This article is a bit more detailed on everything: http://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/phoenix/2016/03/24/arizona-diamondbacks-could-leave-chase-field/82228788/ Either way, this whole thing is incredibly stupid. $187 Million to upgrade a stadium that they won't be playing in 13 years from now. On top of that, when 2028 comes, they will probably want more money to build them a brand new state of the art ballpark since the $187 Million still didn't satisfy them enough. Jesus! goalieboy82
was thinking about this today: i am surprise MLB has not tried to start a women's baseball league like on the lines of the NBA with the WNBA, (and the NWHL with women's hockey). i know there was AAGPBL from 1943-1954 (see A League of Their Own*). *took some license with the story however. so long and thanks for all the fish. FiddySicks
I've been wondering this for quite some time now. I noticed this back in 2010 when they started their season in Houston (which is now an AL city). They've yet to open in San Francisco since. I always thought it was just dumb luck, but I guess not. It is better for them to end at AT&T than start there, I guess. Why the Dbacks are bitching about their ballpark as if they're the A's or Angles is beyond me. Let them try to walk. Doesn't seem like many cities lining up for an MLB team these days. ninersdd
Are the Angels planning on a new stadium? I remember there were of them moving to LA in 2012, but I haven't heard anything since. Sport
I blame Atlanta. The Braves and Falcons have set some unreasonable expectations as for what you need out of a ballpark and the expiration date of a stadium. Moving out of a perfectly good stadium after 20 years is so wasteful. I wish they could pick up Turner Field and drop it in Oakland. I went to the Dbacks stadium in 2014 and not only was it perfectly serviceable, it was pretty nice. Yeah it felt like watching a baseball game inside of a warehouse because that's what it is when the roof is closed, but I don't know how else you would construct a major league ballpark in the desert with a retractable roof without feeling like you're inside of a costco. Maybe the answer to that is you don't put a major league team in the desert. Maybe nobody should live in the desert.
