Seriously, it's like they all sat around a table one day and said lets get rid of our great, unique identity and just slap our name on a basketball. Oh, and let's use a giant P with a D in the middle. So original!

The whole horsepower package was fantastic.

They basically swapped this beauty for that crap above.

I totally agree with you. I loved the horsepower logo..so unique. I get the whole idea of tradition, but in the Pistons case, just go to a modified version of the horsepower package. Great logos, IMO.

Ok, kidding. Mostly. I do think there's room for another teal team in the league. Not the Pistons however.

I do think there's a very good chance the Kings are going back to some evolution of the baby blue/red Reggie Theus era jerseys. Think about it. In '08-'09, the Cavs and Jazz wear throwbacks, then change to uniforms that borrow heavy elements from those jerseys after the next season (Cleveland-back to wine and gold/ Utah-revived use of green and gold).  The Warriors wear Rick Barry era gold throwbacks in Steph Curry's rookie year, then go back to those old colors the next season. Suns wear their black 90s throwbacks in '12-'13, then introduce jerseys that were slightly inspired by that set (and were originally going to have the road be black instead of purple).  What are the Kings wearing this year? The baby blue and red stuff. They're dipping their toe into the water and making sure the fans are cool with the changes, and from what I've seen online, people are down with the Kings 80s look.

The Nets are unveiling their new practice facility in Industry City, Brooklyn today and put up an article about its features today, with some updated renderings. One of the renderings has an interesting ad behind the basket:

hss-01.jpg

Compare to this earlier one, which only had an ad for the center's naming rights-holder, HSS:

Kinda weird that they'd have Nike branding up with the deal not kicking in until after next season. We'll see what it actually looks like today when it's unveiled. The Nets team stores at Barclays and in Coney Island are still branded "NETS SHOP BY ADIDAS".

I always wondered what purple and the 80's shade of blue would look like together for the Kings.

But if they do bring back the blue and red, I'm all for it.

From my Twitter feed, it seems that the Jazz are holding a press conference to announce/unveil the new logo set at 3 PM MT, and the expectation is that the "JAZZ" note wordmark (with "UTAH" on top), not unlike the 1980s-1996 set. No word on any color changes.

What's the source? ... I can't see anything on the official team account.

It's rumors from someone on Twitter who knows somebody; this is about all I have. We'll know whether it's true or not by the end of the day.

False hope.

The emphasis on the Kings' powder blues makes me curious for their new look next year.

I hope it's not a simple recolor of their current logo with the throwback colors ... as the aborted pride jersey from this year MIGHT indicate.

Since I am not a Kings fan and nowhere near Sacramento ... how much love is there for the old logo? Or baby blues?

Honestly I was and still am a HUGE fan of the Teal era unis. 1) not another RWB team 2) color scheme was original and looked good. Black, burnt orange, red and Teal looked good.

I say just remove the horse head but use the wordmark for the uniforms and voila. Problem solved. But I'm in the minority.

Not another RWB team? The Pistons are far from being "another" RWB team, they own royal-red-white in the NBA along with the 76ers... The only other ones are the Pelicans who just adopted their scheme and shouldn't have, the Clippers who are way more red than blue and the Wizards who rightfully went back to red, navy and white...

Man, that is amazing. That's one of my favorite logos ever for some reason. It's not exactly a throwback court but it's pretty close. One day a team needs to just straight up do an old design. I think the 76ers did the Spectrum floor exact back in 2009.

Yep ... amazing look.

Ewww, no. If there's one team that should NOT return to powder/baby blue, it's the Kings. Those blue kings teams were unequivocally terrible and about as forgettable as any sports team ever. And that primary logo they used is absolute garbage. Every single thing about the update to purple, black, and silver was an upgrade.
