Speaking of yellow unis, I'm watching GS @ CHA right now.  GS in their white unis, CHA in their teal unis.  I was just thinking about how GS still does not have a normal, non-throwback, non-sleeved yellow uniform (please correct me if I'm wrong, because I might be), and how ridiculous it is that they don't.  Yellow is already such an under-utilized color in the NBA, and I feel like a team like the GOLDEN state Warriors should be a team that really embraces yellow; if anything, they should almost have the "right" to practically own it.

I'm guessing they don't think it would sell well, and they're probably right (in terms of yellow jersey sales as compared to, say, black jersey sales).  But the reason this thought even came to my head was how beautiful and fun a teal-vs.-yellow matchup would look, especially on Charlotte's court.  I feel like I haven't seen a teal-vs.-yellow matchup in a long time.

When they did the re-brand they wanted yellow as their home jersey, like they use to have (not to copy the lakers) the league told them no. So since then they have only used the yellow the city throwbacks and the failed sleeve jersey.

I have no idea why the Warriors weren't allowed to keep the yellow home unis when the NBA mandated that home unis had to be white. I can get why they allowed the Lakers to keep theirs - they were the most famous team in the league back then, and the gold unis were something of a trademark. But the Warriors went to yellow home unis the same year as the Lakers (back in 1966, I believe) and had worn them ever since. One of the worst uniform-based decisions the NBA made until this latest ads fiasco.

The 70s & 80s featured some cool coloured home unis - the Lakers, Pacers, Warriors, Spurs, Pistons, Sonics, Cavaliers, Hawks & Bullets all wore coloured homes at some point. I'm glad we're seeing more colour-on-colour games these days.

I'm pretty sure they were allowed, but when they switched to white homes their grandfather clause was revoked.

Yep Warriors switched to white on their own undoing. But when they tried to go back, the NBA declined. With the lax rules on alternate uniforms worn at home now. Today, they may have gotten away with it.

I am disappointed that they don't have a gold jersey in their arsenal now. I hope Nike rectifies that next year. Even a gold version of their current primary would be perfect.

I vaguely remember hearing that when the Cavs went to their current set, they asked the league to have gold primary home uniforms, were rejected and ended up just having the gold alt later on.

I could be completely misremembering, but if this is the case, it might have been tough for Golden State to do the same for their primary.

Yeah, I should have been more clear - I was referring to 1986, when Sand Knit took over as exclusive uniform provider for the NBA. Before then, all it said in the rules was teams had to have a white or "light coloured" home uniform. Afterwards, white home unis were specifically mandated, although the Lakers were allowed to keep their gold homes (even though the Warriors had had gold homes for the same length of time).

I'm hoping the rules will relax a little now. White vs. Colour made sense in the days of fuzzy B&W TVs, but now everything's in HD vibrant colour, as long as there's sufficient contrast coloured home unis should be allowed.

Kings played the Hornets tonight in what was probably one of the most brutally confusing uniform matchups I've ever seen.

This should NOT happen.

I disagree.. the teal vs purple was a good color matchup. But it is confusing since Charlotte wears purple too.

Other than it looks like a glorified scrimmage.

Actually watching the game was MUCH worse than in pictures. The colors were a lot closer than they should've been (think red vs orange), and the Hornets wearing uniforms that matched the baseline while the Kings wore uniforms that matched the key just messed with your head in all sorts of ways.
