I site I go to has this as their current logo:

I got bored and messed around with it.  This is what I came up with:

Any comments or critiques?  I feel it is a better color scheme, improved typeface and the golfer is a much crisper render.

I vastly prefer the new color scheme.  Not quite sold on the "D" interrupting the circle but besides that, it's a definite improvement.

I don't mind the "D" in the circle....but the ball in the "D" looks out of place to me.

Definitely an improvement. Id be curious to see a color scheme that works in green and tan to accentuate the "Sand Trap" name

Why green?

isnt that exactly what a sand trap is not?

if you're in the sand trap, you aren't on the green.

I prefer the original.

I chose green because of the obvious tie-ins to golf.  The site is not just about one aspect of the course...

But I did try this palette as well.  And I moved the ball to be the "dot" for .com

Thanks!

Yeah I prefer the first as well.  I did both of these at the same time and liked the green one better.

Sand isn't maroon, either. Green has obvious ties to golf. The color palette in the first logo lends itself more to an outdoors apparel company than it does golf.
