2016 NHL Playoffs, Rite of Spring: "You thought God was an architect"

The point of the "puck over the glass" rule is to force the defending team to make a play while the offensive team applies pressure to them.  It's not so much "just wanting to bring more power plays" as it is "giving the offensive team a chance to extend possession in their offensive zone by applying pressure and forcing turnovers".

I'm always a fan of forcing players to make a play instead of allowing a cop-out.

San Jose's first time leading in the series, and it's 2-0.

But, can they hold it?

EDIT: HAHAHAHAHA Nope

Insta-choke.

In the amount of time it took me to locate the remote and find something else to watch, the Sharks have derped away the lead.

I mean, I said the other day that I wouldn't consider this San Jose Cup loss a choke, but they had to throw some little choke in there. Buh bye two-goal lead.

2-0 to 2-2 in 22 seconds.

The Sharks need the services of an old priest and a young priest.

Objectively, this has probably been one of the worst SCF I've ever seen. The Sharks have looked completely overmatched save like 30 seconds.

That third goal was huge for the Sharks... If the Pens had gotten the third goal before the Sharks, the Pens would have had all the momentum, and this game would have been all but over...

This series is now 2000 and 2008. If the Sharks win game 6 then it's 1994 and 2006.

I don't see the Penguins losing the big one. Martin Jones can't play like this every night.

Call the Sharks chokers all you want, but it would've been easy to just roll over and die on the road. Still see the Pens rebounding and winning on the coast but I guess this gains a little credibility back.

Agreed he can't. But at the very same time Murray has looked very shaky the last 3 games. It would obviously help if the Sharks could get more SOG against him(although he did look better after the first intermission).

Gotta admit I was dreading a Kings-Devilseqsque butt whooping from 2012 tonight. The Pens had all the momentum in the first after they tied and I have a bad feeling that if Kessel buries one of his golden chances there to give them the lead, then that's the game right there as Pittsburgh would be partying right now. Fortunately Murray gave up that bad one to Karlsson and were in decent shape with the lead at the end of one.

I took free Reds tickets because I didn't care to watch the Penguins win a Stanley Cup so I didn't watch the game, but I've watched the other 4. Murray is playing well, was the key reason the Penguins won the Capitals series, and didn't blow it against Tampa, but I also think he's getting an unbelievable defensive effort from the team in front of him. They aren't letting the Sharks set up in the offensive zone, they're backchecking and clogging lanes on rushes really well right now, and they're blocking shots. Burns can't get a shot through the forest right now, but he also can't get a pass through either. The Sharks powerplays feel like they're 5 on 5 and the powerplay's been SJ's bread and butter throughout the playoffs.

Game 6 in San Jose, the Sharks have 5 games worth of knowledge on how to beat these guys now, so I could see it coming back for 7 and maybe that's when Murray finally puts up a Luongo, but until proven otherwise I have accepted the impending Pittsburgh championship. I'm thinking this is the 2008 Red Wings, where they blew a golden opportunity to win at home and had to "settle" for winning the cup in a quiet and empty road arena in 6.

There's a difference between choking and rolling over and dying. Last night's performance doesn't negate the all of the choke jobs in the past.
