2016 NHL Playoffs, Rite of Spring: "You thought God was an architect"

I was disappointed in the result tonight, because its the end of the Sharks season and the hockey season in general.

Congrats to Pittsburgh, for a heck of a series and winning the cup.

I waited twenty five years, since was about 10-11 years old to see the Sharks get to their first ever Stanley Cup Finals. While the end result is disappointing the Sharks played great in many of the games this playoffs, they just ran into a more complete team.

Thank you Sharks and Sharks fan. Here's to next year and to being even better and stronger!

Looks like the Penguins will have to change their 50 years logo for next year.

Pete DeBoer and old guy take team that missed the previous playoffs to the Final by being the last team standing after superior teams derp themselves out or get knocked out elsewhere, takes six games to lose Final despite everyone and their dog knowing the series was over before it started. Devils/Sharks miss playoffs in 2013/2017 and beyond.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Draft: *shrugs*

Free Agency: *maybe*

Expansion: LOLNO

Alot of people hate on the Vegas expansion, I really don't care either way. I'm more excited to see if there is expansion, it'll just give fans a reason to debate on who will and won't be protected and also give debate on team names/design ideas. It's more fun for designers and fans. Oh well. Too each their own.

Well, that sucked. But, it was nice to see the Sharks finally make a cup finals. This group has been part of so many disappointments, I'm just happy this group didn't go entirely empty-handed and ended up having at least SOMETHING to celebrate. It kinda gives a nice ring to this current aging core, which I didn't think was ever even possible. My faith is kinda restored in the Sharks, and instead of feeling completely disgusted once again by a Sharks playoff run, I'm actually quite pleased. Can't win em all!

And hey, Bay Area folk don't really have much to complain about. 5 championships (assuming the Dubs don't collapse) in 7 chances in all 4 major sports in the last 5 1/2 years makes for probably the best run I'll ever see in my lifetime. It's hard not to appreciate that.

Did SabresRule hack your account?  I don't remember the last time you liked anything.

No superior teams derped their way out of the playoffs.  The Sharks blew past the Kings in 5.  The Blackhawks lost to the Blues fair and square.  The Stars' defense and goaltending wasn't that great.  Bruce Boudreau's team fell apart in the playoffs (shocking).  Ditto for the Caps.  Ben Bishop got hurt again; I guess that's what he does now.  I feel like Dennis Green here, but the teams are who the scores say they are.  If your team lost, it's because their flaws bit them in the ass at the wrong time.

To this Flyers fan, the 2015-16 season didn't happen. But congratulations Pittsburgh. Can't wait to hear the obnoxious fans come out of the woodwork.

To this Pens fan (basically Pittsburgh fan in general) I honestly didn't think the Pens would even BE in the playoffs from how the season started.

So, don't think of it as obnoxiousness but a cross of unbridled joy and dumbfounded bewilderment.

Perfect ending to the absolute, start-to-finish sh!tt!est hockey season on record. It couldn't have ended any other way. Of course pittsburgh won. Of :censored:ing course.

I would've been more upset, but last night gave me a healthy dose of perspective and sporting events don't feel important anymore. Remind me of this when the Bengals lose a playoff game for the 7th straight year next January. I also accepted the inevitable Pittsburgh championship after they won game 2 so I've already moved on.

That's the spirit! Also, look at it this way....it could be worse........

Yeah, but this'll mark the end of the Kings's "Frozen Fury" 4-team preseason "tournament" in Vegas.  Sad that Bettman has to kill tradition with a lack of common sense.

Oh, and some perspective for the overly optimistic up north: even the 1992-1993 Kings, with 5 future Hall of Famers, took 19 years to get back to the Final.

*sigh* The Penguins are the better team. Mike Sullivan figured out how to used 2 of the best 5 players in the world on the same team and Jim Rutherford fell into some good moves. Matt Murray is Ken Dryden and rescues the team from MAF. That city continues to :censored: horseshoes.

I mean give another championship to Pittsburgh, it doesn't matter at this point. They won't appreciate it as much as Buffalo, or Toronto or Vancouver etc etc, but that's fine. There are 7 year old pittsburgh fans who've never seen a championship in their lives so you gotta help them out. My Sister lives in Pittsburgh and she'll get work off for a parade that she won't attend so that's cool.

The first finals I've watched was Kings-Canadiens in 93. I was 5. I've watched every one since. The only time I can think of when the better team didn't win the finals was 2009. How :censored:ing Pittsburgh is that?

The Lake Erie Monsters are about to win the Calder Cup. That's what I get to hockey celebrate.

Cleveland's Championship drought has finally come to an end.
