The logo designs are great, especially the heraldry lion. The color scheme really was going to make or break them, and they turned out really good

The jersey... yeah, if they are seriously going to put "Sac" on the main I hope they put "ball" in front of it. You know for basketball and all

All that matters is love, love, your love...

Ok I thought I saw it but I'm really confused -

could someone draw the crown or somehow visually point out how it's supposed to look if it was real life? I'm not seeing how those diagonal lines indicate any type of depth. It just looks like a mountain range to me.

I think the old KC Kings logo did a slightly better job.  http://www.sportslogos.net/logos/view/5383/Kansas_City_Kings/1976/Primary_Logo

I would like to see use of the thinner lines used here.  (Or even thin lines on both sides of the "rear" rectangle).

I get what they are going for, but with the current thick white line, it just looks like an awkward rectangle sticking out.

Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse."

I agree the thinner line looked better. But it's just a negative correlation of wanting to copy an old logo but at same time not being allowed to. With NBA rule they own old logos and they want only new logos. So it was a chage to make it different.

Purple and silver is not a color scheme used elsewhere in pro sports and I've always liked how it looks on Kansas State so that's good, but not liking the early returns on that jersey up there.

Yeah, except for the Colorado Rockies for 23 years, the LA Kings for 13 and the Toronto Raptors for most of their existence.

Anyway, stupid and pointless abbreviations aside, I like the way it's shaping up. It will definitely be an improvement for a team with one of the weakest and most forgettable identities in NA pro sports. The lion head/b-ball logo is by far the best logo they've ever had. I'm not sure why they're not going with that as the main, as it would put them firmly at the top of the league (which mind you isn't hard in a league full of horrible logos).

The 3D effect was easier to make out on the older red and blue classic Kings logo.

Here's a concept logo found online that makes the effect clearer.

The middle triangle of the crown is closest to you, the triangles on either side are in the back, and the half triangles are on the side.

I always used to see mountains as well, then I realized there aren't any mountains in Kansas City or Cincinnati.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

I'm all for the logos and the designs...but "SAC" tho??!! Smh..Please Chicago don't follow suit..ATL,PHX,SAC,...soon it will be LAX,NYK,ORL...etc..

I always thought the 3 letters worked somewhat due to the airport/FAA code but in that case, sacramento is SMF not SAC.

If I was talking about teams using purple, silver, AND BLACK I would've mentioned that in my post. Thanks for your help though.

Primary logo looks much better on a dark background with a white outline. The crown doesn't look right without the outline

Yeah that's a good point. The visual effect is diminished a bit on the white background. To the point where, my only nitpick is that maybe the logo should have a thin black border around the white, at least on white backgrounds.

Hopefully this helps illustrate the depth that they are creating (or not creating, depending on your eyes). The gray portions of the crown are in the back, the purple in the foreground.

"The crown is a reminder that we are all Kings. Derived from the primary logo, the crown is angled slightly to provide dimension and strength."

Oh get the eff out of here, lofty design rationale.

some team abbreviations work. This isn't one of those times. It's just a preview but so far it looks fine with exception of SAC.

It always looks stupid as hell. There are no exceptions. It's only slightly less idiotic than using a dumbass nickname like clutch city, buzz city or rip city.

I KNEW they were gonna use SAC on the road jersey.

Meh, that really doesn't piss me off too much. The full "Sacramento" wouldn't have worked in that font IMO, and Sac is actually a really common term around here when referring to the area. We're colloquially known as "Sac Republic", and it really isn't something people giggle at every time. I mean, they probably should've just gone with "KINGS" on the road jersey, but this isn't as "ZOMG!1!! SacREALLY?1!?1" to me as much as it is to outsiders, because I hear the term just about every day.

And, this is probably the RiverCats most popular hat, FWIW

Like I said a few pages ago, Sacramento is a real mouthful :P

I think this counts as an exception:

...as does the current set:

AP_838358900053

But I can't think of another one.

Like the name "Philadelphia", the name "Sacramento" is a little too long to comfortably fit on a jersey.  (The team has recently had jerseys that prove this.) So, the solution should be to have "Kings" on the home and road jerseys.

"Sac" is very bad, if only for the easy mockery that it promotes: "Sac of sh--", "ball Sac".
