I went to the team's account and noticed their profile picture: Could that be a hint at a light blue and purple color scheme? Highly doubt it. More of an acknowledgment of the two color schemes they wore this year. And agree with others about the lion dribbling the basketball being pretty terrible. The primary isn't great in black and white but does have potential in color. The morphed lion isn't bad.
insert name 4,992 Posted April 23, 2016 The lion with the crown is great.
CS85 10,453 Posted April 23, 2016 I'm speculating that the crown tilted on it's side a bit looks like a sloped road and buildings? Does Sacramento have a lot of steep inclines like San Fran?
IceCap 21,962 Posted April 23, 2016 These look fantastic. I would prefer a powder blue and purpose scheme, but powder blue and red would work too. The lion alternates are amazing. Well done, Kings.

Yeah, it was simply curiosity. I heard that the new arena has black and purple seating, so I'm gonna guess the crown will be black and the ball purple. Glad I'm not the only one who think this is a great rebrand. Never was a fan of the last set. The Lion in the basketball gets a 10/10 for me. Simply amazing!
mjd77 1,495 Posted April 23, 2016 At first I couldn't put my finger on why I don't like that lion stuff. Then it hit me...A logo like that looks like it belongs on a soccer crest, not in the NBA. Doesn't the Express clothing logo kind of look like that too?
MCM0313 2,687 Posted April 23, 2016 I hate the lion dribbling the basketball, love the idea of a purple-and-powder-blue color scheme, and am somewhere in-between on the crown logo. I really hope the purple-and-powder-blue thingy is in anticipation of something and not just looking back on the colors they wore this year. Mostly, I hope the black-and-white designs aren't an indication that they're planning to switch to a black-heavy set.

Color's going to be the big factor in this one Red-white-blue wouldn't be bad if the blue is powder blue. The Houston Oilers made it work wonderfully for decades.
BrandMooreArt 3,766 Posted April 23, 2016 of course ill reserve all judgement until the whole thing rolls out, but put me in the minority, im liking this stuff so far. if the logos have to have a basketball in them, then the logos are pretty well done. i love the crown, and i love the adoption of a lion for a tram named the Kings which is a bit more thoughtful than doing the literal "crown, staff, and throne" thing. and if they do go with blue and purple and pull that palette off well? mark them down as one of my top 3 NBA identities it does strike me as very soccer like in some parts, i cant deny that but i just dont mind it. really looking forward to seeing the rest

I totally agree that that unique, visually pleasing palette would be very welcome. I also hope for whatever reason (not really nostalgia, as I wasn't an NBA watcher the first time) that they bring back the NOB at the bottom of the jersey...that's another unique visual marker and I really like it on them (not so much if a bunch of people adopted it, but for them it's fine). I've always liked purple and light blue together, so getting an NBA team with that combo would excite me!
the admiral 28,205 Posted April 23, 2016 I think the Kings have the right idea by moving on from the '90s logo and purple/silver/black, but the execution is really lacking here.
Lights Out 4,710 Posted April 23, 2016 Very nice! If I had to nitpick something, I don't think the font feels particularly regal or elegant, but it's not bad.
SJAnfield 160 Posted April 23, 2016 I think it's a fantastic rebrand. Whether they use purple and light blue, or red white and blue or red white and light blue, they'll all compliment the brand. Sacramento has a crazy love affair with this team, and it is almost like a college team in some respects. They embraced the purple, but you also see a lot of the original logo still. I personally really dig the trend of returning or embracing the old logos, and am glad Sacramento had joined the club. It may be another unpopular opinion, but I have seen very few decent king/monarch/knight team logos. They usually try to hard or become too busy. This is simplistic and retains the team's heritage. The only thin I'd tweak would be thinning the lines in the crown slightly. Nice job Kings! (Assuming it sticks)
BengalsJunkie 78 Posted April 23, 2016 I'm honestly kind of intrigued to see how a purple/powder blue color scheme would work out.

Does Sacramento have a lot of steep inclines like San Fran? No, not at all. Sacramento is just west of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, but that would the stretchiest of stretches if that we're the reason. Someone mentioned incorporating the Tower Bridge into the crown, and THAT would've been a fantastic nod. But, the "sinking ship" look someone else mentioned is probably just as fitting...
hokupguy 4 Posted April 23, 2016 anyword when they plan to a do an official unveil ? During playoffs ? Pre-draft ?
Maximus89 56 Posted April 23, 2016 I always loved the ball with a crown. Love this slight modernized version. You guys hate everything. I hope the Rockets go back to a roundel with red and yellow. Maybe the first logo with the Rocket going through the middle from the San Diego Rockets.
Dynasty 2,383 Posted April 23, 2016 I'm digging this so far, and I'll continue digging it when the appropriate color scheme is in play.
