I can force myself to see it, but it's tough with as thick as that gap is. Its not even one of those things where you see it once and then always see it - I would have to force it every time. I'm sure there's a better way to create the same effect.

The crown is just some old design holdover from the 70's. It's unique and I prefer they keep it that way.

Bucfan56 says they're switching to something when the team sucked but Sacramento never thought their team sucked enough to stop selling out games. The team itself is an anomaly. Any other sports team would just fall apart after constant lack of success, a tiny arena and constant relocation threats. It's the team that will not die. In my opinion the logo serves itself as a tribute of the franchise history as a whole dating all the way back to Rochester.

Lol, you do realize the arena they played in at the time had, like, just north of 10,000 seats, right? Even new Arco/Sleep Train Arena is still the smallest arena in the NBA in terms of capacity.

So, here's another (a bit out there) Idea for the Kings. The "defacto" colors of Sacramento-born sports teams are some form of dark red, tan/gold, and a darker color (such as brown or black). I'm sure they won't go this route, but this would be kind of interesting to see.

I like the current logo and would like to see the Kings keep it along with the  purple and black colors (accented with silver or gold.)  Powder blue and red is fine for something like what they did this season with "throwback Fridays" but otherwise it should be kept in the closet.  What I'd like to see the Kings do, and past performance is an indicator that they won't or can't, is create a decent looking set using the current colors with the MGM lion ball head thing as a secondary on the shorts.

Looking back at the KC Kings logos, I guess they had white gaps there, too.  The gaps were not as wide and I the old one did a better job at conveying the depth than this one does (at least it its heretofore black and white display).

With the old one, flat out missed the boat on it when I was a kid.  I thought it was a road meandering toward the mountains.  So maybe I am just not good at picking this out. Or maybe it's just hard to do.  I wonder how it would look whit the KC design, but with a white line coming down both sides of the "back" point. I think this would work with thin lines, though not with the thick lines used here.

Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse."

I'm surprised at the general feeling is that these aren't great. I love them. The current set is an inconsistent mess with the primary/partial/script logos all being their own thing. When I went to a Rockets game this month, I saw the Kings crown logo being used by itself, and immediately wanted to rebrand them.

Yeah I know it'll come down to color, but I think the one color logos are sharp. Especially when you consider the Clippers, Bucks, and Raptors rebrands we got this year.

If the Kings wanna go retro, they should update the old Comedy Central-style Cincinnati Royals logo:

Maybe lose the grin, but have a crown and Sacramento skyline rising from California.

I've looked at this logo several times, and I'm just now seeing the map of the US underneath the crown.

You think that's bad? Read the thread where a bunch of people call the Minnesota North Stars their hot ex-wife.

I really like the purple and powder combo, but imo it's gotta have silver or black but not both to offset the more softer colors, I also really like the logos just interested as most to see how they'll look in color.

Last and probably unpopular.  Hypothetically purple and powder each need to be heavy on white primary jersey.  The Purple road & Powder alt, white numerals w/ black/silver trim, tertiary uniform trim being powder road, purple alt.

Absolutely fantastic. Sacramento Kings is the most boring identity in the big 4 sports at this point, so i'm really glad to see they are doing something more interesting.

Most boring identity in the big 4? That seems a bit of a stretch.

I'm putting in a plug for my unpopular idea again, but I think red would be a good way to offset the softer colors as well. That said, I could see black working as a tertiary if used judiciously. Having a hard time with silver...feel like it'd be too close to the powder blue for them to touch.
