Slightly O/T, but the XFL Outlaws had an identity that would've been in the top half of the NFL.

They had the best uniforms in the XFL by far. Huge drop off from them and that league's second best uniforms (SF Demons IMO)

which if anything indicates they'll go in another direction, or else you could sue them.

OR they paid him for them a long while ago and he's been silent as per the contract agreement...........

I'm hoping this is what's happening Sparky!

I'll respect any opinion that you can defend.

The problem with both of those is that both Knights and Aces kind of are covered within the division (Kings, Jets) but as was mentioned earlier, that's not a problem for the Panthers and Jaguars in the NFL.

The Jets are in a different division, same conference.

Thanks hockey week...I appreciate that.

I wish that was the case...that'd be pretty sweet, eh?

I sent the ownership group the "Knights & Aces" concepts and didn't hear anything back...

and I got a "we-don't-accept-any-unsolicited-material" from Adidas, who are working with the NHL to develop the Vegas identity.

They'll do a good job.

Since then I've updated and added a few logos for the "Knights"...

And, (what's really cool), through the process, I've met some great folks down in Vegas.

I designed up a T-shirt for their "announcement-of-a-Vegas-franchise" party at O'Aces Pub...

...What a bunch of puck-heads, eh?

Thanks again hw.

There's apparently already an Arena Football League team called the Las Vegas Outlaws

http://www.unlvtickets.com/eventInfo/spe/562/las-vegas-outlaws-2015-season-ticket-package/

and they already use a similar color scheme

San+Jose+SaberCats+v+Las+Vegas+Outlaws+A

Not to be confused with the last Las Vegas Outlaws

lasout01-demons-4-1-224x300.png

The Arena team no longer exists. Heck, they didn't even make it out of a full season, as both they and the VooDoo closed their doors just before the end of the 2015 season. It's a miracle the League is still going.

I know a reference to Gambling would be a no-no since some people are a little leary of having a team in Vegas, so Gamblers, Aces (though they could use Fighter Jet theme) etc. is probably not going to happen.

But you can't deny that Vegas was built on the Casino industry. What about ...

Las Vegas Mafia (the Mafia's not real wink.. wink.., so it shouldn't upset anyone to use such a fictional name)

Las Vegas Gangsters

Las Vegas Mob

If gaming imagery isn't completely out of the question, I think a real nice package could be created around

Las Vegas Jokers

If you want to tie in the Casino industry then a snake themed name would be perfect.

The team could be the:

Las Vegas Vipers

Pit vipers are all common desert snakes.

Pit Bosses oversee the table games.

A slang name could be the "snake eyes" as in double 1s in a crap game.

The snake theme could tie in so well with the gambling/casino industry without being obvious.

Could also go more abstract with:

Las Vegas Serpents

Las Vegas Fangs

Las Vegas Venom

Or more direct with:

Las Vegas Rattlers

Las Vegas Sidewinders

Las Vegas Copperheads

I think the Outlaw trademark was died when the Arena Football League finally pulled the plug on the the entire experience and mercifully put a bullet in the brain of the franchise. If by chance they still do own the trademark and Foley really wants it, I see the AFL putting forward very minimal resistance. The league I think would like nothing more than to wash their hands of that fiasco once and for all.

i think it's sort of humorous that the vegas team would have to stay away from any kind of casino imagery, because of the moral implications of such an identity... but that people would be fine with them using the name outlaws, which literally points to illegal and immoral activity by definition.

dont get me wrong. i dont have an issue with either name.

i just thought that was funny.

Regardless of the name, I hope that we don't get a regurgitated color scheme. I really think they should be using an accent color in the pink/magenta wheelhouse, especially if they use a lot of black.

Vipers is a great name. Also rolls off the tongue. Las Vegas Vipers, which I'm sure everyone will shorten to Vegas Vipers.

And this is one of my favorite logos of all time:

I'm partial to the Las Vegas Sting, which was the name of a short-lived arena team in the 1990s. There's a duality to this name, because snake bites can be described as a stinging pain, and a sting can have a connection with gambling. The defunct Las Vegas Sting had a bee or wasp on the helmet, the colors were purple and gold.

Las Vegas Expansions.

Nevada Commission (as in the gaming commission).  I'm sure they'll go,with the city name over the state name, even though they're the only major league team in the state.  For now.  And I doubt Aces would work considering the Reno Aces.

Scratch that.  Sacramento Kings/Los Angeles Kings...
