All you who lauded Muhammad Ali months ago, yet now take Colin to task need a tune up because you never cared about Ali.

Ali turned his back during the National Anthem? That's news to me.

I don't care so much that he wouldn't stand for the anthem, that's his choice and, from a personal standpoint, I've never really seen things like silently protesting the national anthem at a sporting event as really that much of a slight worth getting so infuriated about. But the thing that annoys me is that he's already had so much controversary around him for one thing or another, and now he just adds to it on his own accord with something that absolutely will infuriate a LOT of people

I'm a big Kaepernick fan for several different reasons, but damn man, enough already.

The Cowboys new indoor facility is holding four HS games today with one on ESPNU now.  It seats 12K and the Frisco school district will use it jointly.

Face value tickets today are $12 (still seems high for prep), but secondary market was like $40.

Jerry hasn't won in two  decades, but dammit he prints $$$.

I can't be the only one who thinks that's probably the best thing that could've hapened for the Cowboys, right?

Vince Carter, what's up with Tony's career?

last year it took week 2 or 3 to end the Cowboys season. This year it ends in preseason.

Time to see what Dak can do.

I don't comment much in these threads but i did find it interesting that Kap made a good deal of noise about the racism angle, yet he could do something really brazen like give a certain percentage of his salary to charity. To me, this seems like textbook pandering and more of a distraction to a franchise. If I was a Niner now, I'd be silently hoping management can get this dude off the team ASAP.

"And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life... You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry... you will someday."

Doesn't the cap hit go away once you retire?

No.

See Calvin Johnson.

Quote

Johnson's cap hit in 2016 is currently scheduled to be $24 million. Despite clearing his $15.95 million base salary with a decision to retire, the Lions are still responsible for $12.9 million in dead money attached to the signing, option and restructure bonuses.

That means Johnson's retirement would instantly free up $11.1 million in cap space, the same as if he was traded or released. If Detroit pursues recovering the $3.2 million prorated remainder of his signing bonus, and are successful in recouping the funds, that increases the cap space to $14.3 million.

But his salary would go off the books, only romo's signing bonus would hit the team, and as far as I know he has never restructured his contract so that won't cause a hit on the salary cap. The Cowboys would only be on the hook for this season because he would have retired before the June 1st deadline. The rest of his salary would instantly go away.

Their cap issues are a horror with/without Romo.

Bryant, Lee, Smith, and Witten take up $50M in cap space before Romo is in the fold (active or retired).

They're just kicking the can down the road like the Eagles and Saints.
