LAWeaver 948 Posted August 7, 2016 Adam Schefter is reporting that both the Packers & Colts are concerned about the quality of the field, as some players have said parts of the field are hard as concrete, making it unsafe to play on. Wings 2,142 Posted August 7, 2016 Maybe next time they'll rethink about having the HOF ceremonies inside the stadium. Tom Benson donated 11 million to the refurbishing of Fawcett Stadium and that's why his name now adornes it.
BlackBolt3 1,380 Posted August 7, 2016 Game cancelled. Benson needs to donate some funds for better paint.

BBTV 19,567 Posted August 7, 2016 "Wrong" meaning there were two types sitting there and they simply mistakenly grabbed the one labeled "not for use on grass", or "wrong" meaning they used the paint they thought they should have, it just sucked. If the former, I bet the groundskeeper in charge of that must want to dig a hole at the 50 and crawl in. This brings back memories of when the Eagles and Ravens cancelled a preseason game at the Vet because the new Nexturf surface had uneven cutouts around the baseball parts and was dangerous.
TheRicSlick 844 Posted August 8, 2016 Pretty embarrassing for the league.

I wonder why they even need whatever type of paint they used, but I'm not a groundskeeping expert. This cancellation has spawned a lot of unnecessarily hot takes on Twitter about how soft football players today are. Sure, let's have players break their ankles during a meaningless game.
AHcreative 505 Posted August 8, 2016 It was a good call to cancel the game but doesn't do well for the league's already tarnished reputation.

The league canceled a game due to unnatural forces that caused unsafe field conditions. How exactly does that tarnish a reputation? Unless the league is in control of the groundskeeping at the stadium, it's not their fault.

They forfeited money to ensure player safety. If anything, this reflects well on them. Hell - if I was running the league, I'd consider staging events like this so I could brag about how no amount of money is going to make us put our players at risk (which we all know is BS.)

I was under the impression that they were in control of field upkeep. Paint isn't really an unnatural force, I just find it funny that they used the wrong paint.
DNAsports 5,500 Posted August 8, 2016 Here's an idea: For future HOF games, just move the Pro Bowl to that date. It showcases potential future HOFers. On another unrelated note: If Joey Bosa and the Chargers don't come to an agreement before the season starts, that technically makes him ineligible for the 2016 season and also eligible for the 2017 draft, correct? A similar situation happened with Michael Crabtree and the 49ers in his rookie season.

He obviously became "too Hollywood" for my liking, but I can appreciate his enjoyment of the off-the-beaten-path restaurants. I've eaten at a few of the places that he pimped on his Triple-D show, and they each were pretty awesome. There are bigger douches from the Food Network than him. Probably a guy I could have a beer and a sandwich with....unlike two guys I'd like to punch in the head: Emeril and Bobby Flay.

the admiral 28,302 Posted August 8, 2016 I figured Guy would be a Jaguars fan since it's one of those cities where cuisine pretty much tops out at the Red Lobster/Olive Garden level.

This also reminds me of when the Rams played at Busch Stadium in their first year in St. Louis. The cutout turf for the bases had some sort of problem so they played at least one (but maybe more) of the 5 games there with the dirt showing through on an AstroTurf field.pic of Rams at Busch Stadium II

I used to work for a radio station up in Tahoe and they brought him in as a guest one day during the yearly celebrity golf tournament. He actually turned out to be a surprisingly pleasant person.
