Bruins
The San Diego Mariners were a WHA hockey team that was around for a few years in the seventies. They collapsed due to unsuccesful ticket sales, but could have possibly been relocated to Florida after being sold to Flyers minority owner Bill Putnam. So what if that deal went through and created the first successful Sunshine State hockey club? This is my preposition for an NHL team known as the Florida Breakers. After the Mariners could no longer be sustained, the Florida Breakers were born, and became the first Florida hockey team since the shortlived Miami Screaming Eagles of the 72/73 WHA season. Hopes were that under the wings of Bill Putnam, this team would turn out better. Potential was evident and although ticket sales were initially rocky, fans of hockey from all over Florida began to join in on the rather successful buzz of the new ocean-themed team. Fans were also fond of the logo which was, although very seventies, rather sharp. It included four shades of aqua blue and an F for Florida made up of the upper two parts of the wave. The unis also had seventies flair (NHL jerseys pictured above) and featured an aquatic font, same as the logo, and a sort of blue gradient featured on the sleeves and waist of both the home and road uniforms. Fan fervor was enough to make the NHL take a chance on the team and give them a spot in the league. This resulted in the logo being given a white outline (As shown on the above blue jersey) and obviously dropping the WHA from the half circle. Let me know what you think of this initial concept and more (fake) history to come! Thanks But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. coco1997
I like the concept overall, but that "7" on the uniform number looks more like an upside-down "2."
panthers_2012
I feel like it needs a second color, maybe white? The 4 shades of aqua blue looks weird to me. The logo really blends in on the home jersey. Good concept though.
Bruins
The 7 just looks like that in the font, even though it does look like a 2 and I can experiment with a little white, maybe make the word white or the bottom of the wave. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Bruins
Upon entry to the league, the Breakers called the Hollywood Sportatorium home, which was located roughly 20 miles from both Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. This was also the residence of the ill-fated Miami Screaming Eagles in 72/73. It held 15,532 hockey fans and was suitable enough for the emerging team. In the 1980/81 season, their second in the NHL the Breakers were able to pick up Robert Picard and Darryl Sittler in a blockbuster trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs. This propelled the team down the right track and helped them find early success and an identity of their own. Bruins
The Next season, the Breakers were good enough to qualify for the playoffs after putting together a team that included Mike gartner, Mark Howe, Robert Picard and Darryl Sittler. They made it to the second round by way of beating Boston in 5 games and then losing to Quebec in 4. The Sportatorium, or the "Sport" as it was nicknamed was starting to get packed and sell outs were not a rare thing. So the team was now really starting to get off the ground and for the next couple of years they pretty much maintained everything. Their uniforms and logo stayed the same and they still were not able to reach the finals. Any trades they made were pretty much break even. The fans were starting to get a little restless and wanted a cup or at least a shot at it. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. greyraven8
Feel that on the back of the jersey either the numbers need to be smaller or the names bigger or thicker. The blue jersey is a bit overpowering. If you plan on keeping the colour striping as is there, possibly consider making the main colour of the logo and numbers on that jersey white. Like the overall concept. "Just when I thought you'd said the stupidest thing, you keep on talking" - Hank Hill
Bruins
The jerseys will be changing for the late eighties to shake up the team's identity. These jerseys were intended to have a seventies inspiration that carried into the early to mid eighties. The logo will also be redone. Thank you for the feedback! Morgan33
The Teal version is in desperate need of some contrast. I would suggest adding white because right now everything is blurring together. Even if the stripes were really thin, I think adding white go a long way towards a stronger uniform. That being said, I think the white version looks really good. Bruins
If the Avengers were a hockey team they wouldn't have been able to beat the Early 80's isles. The Breakers wouldn't fair any better and in fact got swept by NY in the '83 Wales Conference Finals. That's an awesome question, thanks. Bruins
In the 86/87 season, the Breakers front office felt that major changes needed to be made in order to get the team out of a rut. That included trading some major assets for draft picks and completely revamping the Sportatorium. The Sport had previously been in a terrible state and had a roof so leaky that some games had to be cancelled due to rain and snow delays. There had been earlier attempts to patch it, but it was obvious serious improvements must be made to the roof and the rest of the arena, which was at this point, quite frankly a dump. A successful multi-million dollar reconstruction was completed relatively soon and the stadium was renamed the Florida Sportatorium to better associate with its inhabitants. However the Stadium wasn't the only thing to undergo a makeover. The uniforms and logo were also redone in the spirit of shaking things up to maybe help the Breakers receive the cup for the first time. The logo wasn't a completely new idea but in ditching the half-circle and changing the color scheme, it was definitely a noticeable revamp. The colors were swapped to help better represent the actual colors and look of a wave. The uniforms were what really underwent an overhaul, switching up the identity to the point that, without the chest logo, the team became almost unrecognizeable. A shoulder yoke was added, dark blue for home and white for away, and the teal stripe gradient disappeared for the sleeves and waist. In fact, sleeve stripes were abandoned all together. The waist stripes were changed as well, with a different setup of three colors on each set. The number font was now a much tamer athletic type opposed to the previous quirky font of the 70's and early 80's. Fan response to the new duds was pretty much mixed. Some people liked the update and switch to a more oceanic theme instead of beachy while others preferred the brighter feel of the old jerseys. Which set do you like better? Let me know what you think, C&C always welcomed. Thanks! But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. ~Bear
I like the new set,but the old one feels more unique and has a better color scheme. However, I like the new logo better without the half circle. Im liking what's going on so far. Keep it up.
