[EDIT: And I now see that @jmoe12 noted this first.]

Proposal made to look at designing a new flag for the city of Nashville, TN.

Information from Wikipedia on the current flag.

It's about doggone time.

If it turns out looking like anything other than a Gibson ad, I'll be very impressed.

Naturally there are many worrying that the crescents are too evocative of Muslim imagery, because Indiana.

Regardless of the notion of any people worrying about Islamic imagery similarities, 1 and 3 are the best looking of that bunch. The negative space "E" in number 1 is particularly clever.

3 does look like that Twitter account that mixes flags together mixed the 2005 Utah Jazz and Turkey.

I think the first one with the negative space E is clever.

You’re neglecting the true Québécois flag.

The Patriote Flag!

Unfortunately this has been co-opted by certain...unsavoury types, which is a shame. I've always loved it but I'm thankful I do not own one.

With Juneteenth on the verge of being recognized as a federal holiday, there's a lot of focus on the Juneteenth flag.  And I love it.

Juneteenthnc10.jpg?w=1080

The idea came from a Boston activist, and the design from illustrator Lisa Graf.  She describes the symbolism this way:

Quote

"The Juneteenth flags represent the history, and freedom the American Slaves and their descendants. The design of the Juneteenth flag depicts a bursting "new star", on the horizon. The star represents A NEW FREEDOM, A NEW PEOPLE, A NEW STAR. The red, white, and blue colors communicate that the American Slaves, and their descendants were all Americans."

A couple years later, somebody added the date as an alternate version.  Major, major downgrade.

And now, like with many public domain designs, there are a bunch of unofficial versions.

Shame.  They haven't improved upon the original.
