LEAGUE NEWS!!!

I received a majority of votes for the playoffs and there was only one no, so I'll update the rule doc to reflect that it will be the top 4 teams in each division.

Also, the top 2 teams in each division will get an alternate jersey for next season!!!

Furthermore, I wanted to clarify the offseason process. First, I will announce all retiring players, then GMs will PM me 5 forwards, 2 defensemen, and 1 goalie that they will protect from the expansion draft. Next, we'll have the expansion draft followed by the rookie draft, and then free agency craziness to replenish rosters.

I also added the Eddie Shore Trophy for most Penalty Minutes. Get those goons on the ice if you want this trophy!

I was the one no...

Oh well. At least I still have the alternate jersey to shoot for. I'm pretty far ahead of #3 so hopefully I can keep momentum.

Looking forward to an alternate jersey then!

Dang. 5 and 2 seems kind of low compared to real life. Wish I'd known that before I traded away all my draft picks. Btw, the '91 expansion draft allowed 1 G and 16 skaters to be protected. Maybe somewhere a little more in the middle?

On a team note, this offense has gotta get out of the mud. Losing 3-2 to Saskatoon after a goose egg against Riga is not a recipe for success. C'mon Hammers! We have a division to win!

Just thinking with this league moving forward, will European teams start to wear sponsorship logos on their jerseys?

Also how will free agency work? Will players just randomly not want to stay with teams? Will GM's only be allowed to keep 3 first line forwards, 3 second line forwards etc to force trades or league equality? Just curious.

I'm working late tonight. Tomorrow I'll have a load of explanations, results, All-Star game news, and perhaps a WHL-sponsored World Cup?

Also, we have some news:

I've been getting some questions about the draft, and I think the best way to go about it is to have each GM take a look at the rookies available for the draft and number them in the order they'd draft them, then I'll conduct the draft with that information, since a live draft isn't feasible.

Also, over the next few years with the fall of the Soviet Union and the rise of Quebec nationalism, there will be some "free" designs that will take place regardless of GM points.
