It's sad to me that they can't renovate. I've gone to Wrigley Field because of the stadium not the Cubs. I want to go to Fenway because of the stadium not the Red Sox. That kind of thing won't happen for long since nothing is being saved anymore.

I saw a great plan to renovate San Diego Stadium to its mid-Century modern 1960s era look/feel.

- Open back up the closed end to reveal the mountains to the east

- Re-plant palm trees all around the exterior of the stadium

- Remove 30,000 or so seats to give the remaining 40,000 seats ample leg room

That deal fell on dead ears but I would have loved to see it happen to preserve history in a very new and exciting way.

This is the only multi-purpose stadium I've been to.  Of course I've been to the Big A, but only after the renovations to return it to baseball-only.  I like them both.

Actually, I don't think this is right. The colors in the style guide may be different, but I'm almost 100% sure New Era uses the same shade of orange material for both caps.

Actually, now that I look at it, ALL of the caps I have that use orange are the same shade. I'm pretty sure New Era only provides one shade of the MUSA poly in orange. It's the same case with red (Minus the D Backs).

Thanks for the clarification - I obviously misread/misremembered.

Call me crazy but in that second pic I see a slightly more reddish tint in the Marlins orange but it could just be me.

With that said, I agree with what you're saying because I have noticed this before but with me it's only been with the caps.

Can anyone post a comparison of the Marlins orange jersey with the Astros, Orioles, or Giants. Because besides the caps, I'm certain I've seen differences in the Marlins orange compared to other oranges in other comparisons of the color. I figure the jerseys would be a pretty solid representation of this as well.

Why can't the nba follow the MLB of simplifying team logos

image.jpg

I always hated the NFL's leaning on helmet logos that didn't stand alone for a primary, and preferred the MLB's more complex logos with the team names.  I disliked the Angels' movement to just the A.  Now more and more of the sport is going the route of having logos that express nothing and will not read to the uninitiated.

That being said, the home name rule in the NBA is stupid.  Drop the "Brooklyn" off that Nets logo.

What I don't like about teams making their cap logos into the primaries is that it just feels lazy. I'd understand if they wanted to make one logo identify them as a whole, but c'mon, the primaries with all the elements are cool (Dodgers, Mets, Blue Jays, Cardinals, etc.). As a logo enthusiast, I like seeing a team use more than one logo (three at most, but two should probably be standard). Just using one (especially a damn letter) in baseball feels cheap. It also bothers me on how unbalanced the primary logos are in baseball now. I mean it just looks weird. You have some teams using a fully customized logo and then you have others using a :censored:ing letter.

Have to disagree with you BucFan. This topic was discussed over at NECT. There's a slight difference of the shade of Orange between the Marlins n Astros.

You can't tell in low light, but on the second pic you def can see the difference The Astros Orange is lighter  (marlins is sandwich between two Astros)

Unless New Era changed the orange in the last year it's the same shade. The new "With imported materials" deal may have swapped some things up a bit, but as a cost cutting measure, New Era only has one shade of the MUSA orange material (This came straight from NECT as well, so that's a weird discrepency). I almost didn't post the second picture I put up because it kind of looked a little different, but that was just the flash on my iPhone distorting things a bit. The best way to tell similar colors is to compare the two in the sun. I put both caps out in the sun today and they're identical.

All three caps are fully US made with performance poly, nothing imported in those three. I was also with the idea that NE uses the same shade on all Orange caps, until I put them together

One thing I take from this is that orange caps are not worn nearly enough in MLB.  That orange Astros cap has always and will always be my favorite of all time.  Still have fond memories of the Astrodome lights bouncing off those glorious orange batting helmets back in the 70s.

I can understand that, as it took me a minute to determine they were the same shade due to the lighting I was using. Lighting is really important because under some forms of light the slight differences in the grain on the material can really throw the color for a loop.

I dunno, from everything I've heard and from what I can see, they're the same shade. There may have been a time when they did use two different shades of orange and gave the Marlins their own custom shade, but from everything I know of how New Era operates, that seems unlikely. I could be wrong though.

Did the Indians go back to navy undershirts and socks at home? Everything I've seen from spring training and photo day shows them with navy undershirts and socks. And I'm not talking about with their spring training jerseys and pullovers I'm talking about with their home white jerseys. It could just be a spring training thing but seeing it with the white jersey especially in the photo day pics was alarming to me because I love the red at home and navy road thing they recently had going on. Any word on this?

I don't think Guru hangs in here. Maybe both of your Astros n Marlins have the same shade cause NE being NE, but I own three orange Marlins two 2011 released and 2012 released. and all three have the same shade a bit darker than all 4 Astros that I have.

Just curious, but why do you have so many of the same hats? Different patches?

Because he's a collector, is it really that difficult to understand?

Not difficult to understand but his answer made a lot more sense than yours. I learned from him that there are different variations. I'm a collector of many things too but if I have duplicates of something there's usually a reason why, hence my question to him. Thanks for your input though, it sure was helpful.
