MLB Changes 2017

Working on updating the uniform images for Wikipedia.  Are the Rays still wearing the fauxbacks on a regular basis?  I can't find a version with the NE flag on it for sale.

Also, was the '86 Mets unis a one-off?  They are really nice, and I wouldn't blame them for keeping them around given how important the team was to franchise history.

The article on the site about the Mariners patch reveal said that it was going to be on the right sleeve, but it's on caps being sold.  Is it going to be on both, or on just one when we get to Opening Day?

Also, are Baltimore's "O's" cap and Houston's orange cap still in use?  I know the Marlins ditched theirs even though they still sell it.

For that matter, what about throwbacks?  The White Sox go as far as to reproduce a city anniversary patch... are attempts at accurate reproductions at throwbacks also going to be subject to the NE flag?

Wow.  That list got longer than I expected.

Orioles still use the O's cap, as recently as last season.  I imagine they didn't bother packing them for ST, but will be in use for the regular season.

And last year, the Orioles had a throwback and didn't have the MLB logo on them. I would imagine it would be the same.

I do believe the '86 Mets uni was only for 2016 (30th anniversary).

Mariners will wear anniversary patch patch on the jersey for sure.

Houston has the orange hat with navy brim still in use.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

That's nothing new though from what I remember. I think they have to do it that way due to coding.

Yeah, all the pullovers had buttons in last year's game as well. Though, I don't really buy that they can't figure out how to do pullover jersey if they can figure out different cleat, glove, and accessory styles.

I've got a dribbble, check it out if you like my stuff; alternatively, if you hate my stuff, send it to your enemies to punish their insolence!

I think it's more them prioritizing certain things above small aspects like that. They already code that game to the max (to the point where individual elements like World Series patches aren't possible). Overlooking small elements like that in favor of beefing up other areas is ok with me.

I know, blasphemy for us normally, but if they can improve things like ball physics I'll take that sacrifice because it's close enough and the actual gameplay is what really makes the show so impressive.

Rays are wearing a fauxback uniform this season, though I think it's the "road" version from a few years ago.

Mariners caps with the patch are supposedly only being worn for the opening weekend. Patches on the jerseys will be worn all season long.

O's cap still exists. Astros are still using the orange cap with the navy bill. Solid orange caps aren't in use.

The Rays are apparently wearing the road version this season which was last worn in 2014.

Are you looking only at Major League teams? The image for the Italy team shows an outdated uniform, the one with the red front number.

For the moment.  Opening Day is coming, and it's time for the annual updates.  Although someone did leave a message on my page asking me to update the US uniforms.  It's no longer the hot topic of the day, but when I'm done and done with the other project I'm working on at the moment, I should turn my eye to the WBC unis.

Huh...  I didn't even know that was a thing.  Wow.

On a side note, as I start to take a more detailed look at things, I notice that the Padres have navy piping on both the home and away pants.  Of course, it's hard to forget that they took the piping off the white pants so that they need only have two pairs for the season.  Are they actually going to keep extra pants in the closet like a big league team, or are they going to get even worse and wear navy piping with the non-navy alts?

Thanks all for the help.  I've got about everything done.  I'll upload and just wait until the first week to add the Detroit and Seattle patches once I see them on the unis.  They're not in the publicity pictures.

That first cap image looks really purple to me. Like, Rockies-level purple.

What's with the pinstripes not going all the way down on the back?

That bottom piece is apparently some sweat catching material to soak sweat off their backs so that it doesn't soak up their pants. Not kidding. It's basically a diaper.

By my count, 9 MLB teams use royal blue...

3 use the darker royal blue... Rangers, Cubs, Dodgers

6 use the lighter royal blue... Mets, Royals, Blue Jays, Phillies, Mariners, Brewers

Is this correct? Are any of these wrong or do any of these teams use a different shade beyond the 2 royal blues? I'm most unsure about the Cubs.

MLB The Show continues to underwhelm. Ugh.

It's always been like that. The Show only has one base template for jerseys so pullovers will just be the pullover design over a button down template. Besides that, The Show actually made many welcome improvements to their uniforms this year. There's still several issues to be addressed but now there seems to be more hope for improvements in the future as before this year they were pretty stagnant on making uniform improvements. With that said, I found out this weekend that the uniform/art team in that game is only EIGHT people! Puts things into perspective when you realize how much those 8 people are tasked with and uniforms aren't their only assignments. Player faces and stadiums are theres as well.
