Didn't seem like closest neighborhoods were anywhere near walking distance to the park when I went there.

Flushing is one stop east on the 7 train; Corona two stops west, Jackson Heights 6 stops west. Thats a 10 minute ride at most, not bad at all.

Also, in searching for pictures, I saw video of the cow being craned in.  I don't see him in the pictures from yesterday.  Where'd he end up?

He's in right center field under one of the light fixtures. You can see him in some of the shots above.

And the park is completed, they just have some tweaks to make now that they've had a test-run to check how everything functions. They said they need to move the tarp on the third base line because it was blocking the view from the first row. Also need to adjust the LED lights.

The only stuff that is "semi-complete," like you said, are just parts of the Battery. The Comcast building and Omni hotel are still being developed (I think those are months away, one of those buildings might even be slated for next year). A few of the apartments, shops, and restaurants will open throughout the course of this season, but they say a lot of that will be ready by Opening Day.

Yesterday was just about giving them a chance to test the functionality of everything, hence the reason they only offered tickets to season ticket holders. They had a crowd of about 21,000.

Sun Life gives me a Comerica Park vibe. Or like kroywen said, the ultimate generic '00 ballpark.

Nah, Sun Life was the ultimate 80's football stadium.

I always called it a sushi box, because you know... it looked like a sushi box.

That's a new one. I gotta say the place looks fantastic nowadays.

Sun Trust Park looks nice in the same way a brand new Toyota Corolla looks nice. It's shiny and clean and it also has that new car smell which is pretty cool. But, it's still a Toyota Corolla...

Probably due to the recession. The area around Nats Park is finally being developed after initial plans had most of it completed between 2009-13.

You can see three cranes out of many in this early 2016 pic of Nats Park:

And for the Mets...

Yeah, it's under a ten minute walk from New Shea to some amazing bars and restaurants on Roosevelt just past 114th. Love going to Tres Potrillos and La Picardia. And in the other direction on College Point blvd, Kane's diner is my favorite in the entire city.

My bad. I clearly meant Sun Trust. Insert generic corporate name here...

It's a better name then the old one if you it took you 14 years to realize it isn't called New Comiskey anymore. :F

I'd been unable to find the cow or the neon tomahawk I'd seen photos of, as well as the lights being nigh invisible in the day shots I was looking at (not to mention the bare look of the light stanchions as a whole), so it looked as if things were less than complete.  If that's complete, then that's even more disappointing.

Wow.  You missed the whole hullabaloo about that?  People were really up in arms about it, considering the company's logo.

EDIT: On a side note, as I look through the new pictures, I see the answer to the question I had back when the news broke about what they'd do to the U.S. Cellular name and logo etched in glass and stone at the main entrance.

Admittedly, it kinda looks better now.

I'm trying to figure out from all those Sun Trust Park photos where they put that Braves wordmark (or maybe it's just the A logo) with the video screen built into it. Ya know, the one a lot of us freaked out over if they were changing back to blue outlined in red

Here's a better look at the Mariners. I think it's solid. Matte batting helmets work for a lot of teams since they almost match the appearance of the New Era caps.
