MLB Changes 2017

It's a very simple formula here...

If this cap...

goes with this jersey...

then this cap...

goes with this jersey...

better than this cap does...

Whether anyone likes the change or not I actually think it's the best decision in terms of making the uniforms fit together in one logical cohesive unit. The fonts of both the cap logo and the wordmarks both are the same and both uniforms have matching blue brims. There was no logical reason for the orange brim to ever happen unless it was going to happen on the road cap as well. Whether or not any of these should even exist is a debate for another day... but they do exist and if they're going to exist then this is, in my opinion, the best way to do it.

The thing you are forgetting is that when the alts were first unveiled, there was no road alt cap. Both uniforms used the cap with the orange bill. The road cap came two years later.

That's fair but the road alt cap does exist now so either they do what they're doing now for 2017 or have both alt caps have an orange bill. Either way consistency is the key here.

You know what else would be consistent? Having one hat.

Not that sedona doesn't fit too.  Honestly, I love that color scheme too.  I find it hard to decide which scheme is better.  I wish they would have gone with Sedona Red/Purple/Turquoise instead of the current Scarlet/Black/Soap.

I actually like their "soapy" turquoise. I'm 100% open to seeing concepts where it replaces dark grey as their road uniform color.

My only problem with the "soapy" turquoise is that the team markets it as bringing back one of their original colors like a throwback but it's such a different shade of turquoise from the one in 98-06 that it's pretty much a whole different color. You can't tell me you're bringing back an old color if the new version is that different. To me it's like if a team that has navy blue dropped it and then brought it back but as royal blue instead of navy blue. It's way too different for me.

My issue for the last two years exactly.  That and the fact that the vibrant turquoise fits the market better (see my reference images) than the soapy color.   If that were being used by a Miami or even a San Diego maybe, that would be a different matter.   Not that San Diego needs ANOTHER color scheme.

The Mets should just go with orange outlined in white on both blue alts.   The new cap gives the logo a completely distinct look, so I can't really argue too much with its existence.

So, armpit panels are still a thing?

Actually, that's the back panel.  If you go to the site and look, the back is the same color as the underarm area.  It's a two-tone design.

And they are for BP (supposedly replacing the BP jersey).  That doesn't necessarily mean they'll be worn in-game.  I thought someone said many pages back that the Spring Training jerseys will be used again this year.  This top only replacing the pre-game jerseys.

Go Astros!

Go Texans!

Go Rockets!

Go Javelinas!

I... don't hate it. I probably should, but I think it'll go well with the pinstriped pants. And considering it's just BP/Spring Training, it could be worse. Look, if they were gonna have the crazy white billed cap anyway, they might as well at least make it match.
