I had the fortune of meeting him once at the Memorial Tournament.

This reminds me a lot of when Gordie Howe passed away. Man's man who was just really good at his sport and a really good guy. What a life he led.

A while back, we had that Mount Rushmore thread, he may not be on it, but the reality is that there very few more important 20th Century athlete in professional sport than Arnold Palmer.

Aside from his success on the course, "Sports Marketing and Management"  wouldn't be what it currently is without and Mark McCormack.  Way before licensing his name for the beverage, he endorsed both Pennzoil and Quaker State motor oil, insurance, clothing line, Hertz (with OJ) and owned a chain of dry cleaners. Then there's is the course design and he co-founded Golf Channel.

Plus, on Sunday night, "The Simpsons" episode made reference to him in regards to the drink named after him. Bad coincidence.
