I think Moncada is going to be the next Robinson Cano+speed, Michael Kopech is gonna be a lights out closer, Luis Basabe should be an average OF and the other guy's got velocity I guess. Plus Chicago doesn't have to pay any of Moncada's $31.2 million signing bonus. Huge prospect haul that was definitely fair but it probably won't be fun for Boston in about five years. Such is life under Dave Dombrowski. I don't know about that. Michael Kopech has already been hit with a PED suspension, and broke his pitching hand punching his roommate in the face. He's a complete meatball, sure he throws 100+ (only recently) but so did Daniel Bard. Yuan Moncada could be something special. The knock on Moncada is he doesn't have any baseball IQ - he looks lost out there. He'll be 22 in Spring Training but I believe Sox brass soured on him with his slow development. I'm just hoping this isn't Hanley Ramirez all over again. You can't hate this deal on either end, even if the prospects don't pan out. On paper it's a win-win. He lost a TON of weight with the Giants heading into (I believe) the 2011 season only to pack most of it back on within a year. FGM13
I know that seems like a massive overpay but Eaton just had a really great season and Giolito has never really put up very impressive numbers, his hype has been all in the stuff and not the results. So this might not be as disastrous for Washington as it seems. If they pan out, though... the ChiSox will be scary. masterchaoss
Yeah I don't like the idea of giving a big deal like that to a relief pitcher, it just screams disaster. I won't blame the Dodgers if they decide to not resign Jansen if he cost anywhere near that much. Kershaw is GOD! Kershaw is LIFE! Kershaw is ALL! bosrs1
Padres just took the top three picks and prospects that were available in the Rule 5 draft. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/210673438/2017-rule-5-drafts-top-3-picks-go-to-padres/ Quote San Diego only made one official selection, taking shortstop Allen Cordoba from the Cardinals with the No. 3 pick. But the Padres picked up two other players via trade, dealing with the Twins for top pick Miguel Diaz, a right-hander from the Brewers' organization, and acquiring catcher Luis Torrens, formerly of the Yankees, from the Reds. LMU
Turns out that Jansen and Turner are taking their time due to a minor detail that they're both in Curaçao at the moment for Kenley's wedding. Not sure how you come to that conclusion considering the bullpen cost them that series. Pablo would've had to pick up a slider, from a place other than White Castle, for that to be true.
