And still, I think he goes under the radar because of how low-key he is off the court.

Yeah, that's one thing I noticed about him I do not hear of any tweets or new shoes that come out. I see the occasional commercial but besides that, I hear nothing much about him

He's been All NBA eight times, that's far from under the radar and the the originator of hitting dudes in the jewels.

The biggest glare is he has never gotten out of the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Yep, when I think Chris Paul, I think regular season & ASGs.  There's a bit of Steve Nash to his resume.

But for the most part, he stays out of the headlines. At least nowadays anyways.

What? Which NBA are you watching?

Paul is president of the player's union and was key to the new CBA.

He had this to say about Lauren Holtkamp last year and had two run-ins with her this season already @PDX and @BRK.

Wondering how the Cavs score 12 points in a quarter.

At the risk of being a homer here, Utah does have the best team defense in the league. They've got San Antonio beat by nearly 3 points in PPG allowed.

Granted they can be a bit streaky at times (even within a game, like last night), but when they're on, they've showed they can put the clamp on anyone.

That illness Giannis had the other day must've been something like 24 hour flu...I've had that a few times, and one day of feeling like :censored: paired with a few days of semi-lethargy...ugh.

One thing I know, Malcolm Brogdon's looked pretty impressive to me.  Surprisingly enough, Michael Beasley's been pretty good off the bench, too.

LeBATARD: You’ve been pushing to make the All-Star Game. Is it true — is this a true story or are you making this up — that a woman, a famous woman, you were hitting on her and she said, “Come back when you’re an all-star?” Is that true of false?

EMBIID: It’s a true story. It’s not who everybody thinks it is. But the story is actually true.

LeBATARD: So it’s not Rihanna? Because everybody thinks it’s Rihanna.

EMBIID: No. [Laugh]

LeBATARD: OK, well I’m wondering who it is then. Why are you keeping her a secret?

EMBIID: I mean, if I make the All-Star Game, everyone’s going to find out who the woman is. But I think it’s just funny so that’s why I’ve been using that to get some more votes and people —

LeBATARD: Wait a minute, so you’re actually going to get a date with this woman and unveil this date if you do indeed make the All-Star Game?

EMBIID: Yeah. [Laugh]

LeBATARD: So you’re gonna get the date? You know you need— OK, so this is the first time this has ever been done in the history of the All-Star Game.

[Embiid continues to laugh]

STUGOTZ: What if he doesn’t make it this year and makes it next year and by next year she’s taken?

LeBATARD: Well, OK, wait a minute. What is going to happen there?

EMBIID: Uh, I think she’s going to have to leave her man for me because— she’s just going to have to leave her man for me. That’s how it goes. [Laugh]

Embiid is awesome. As good as KAT but with probably the best personality since Shaq.

I can only hope he stays healthy. It'd be cool to see Embiid dunking on jerks and smiling and dancing for the next decade.

He tweet-crushed a porn star troll who made fun of him and Simmons which was pretty awesome, but the HHH entrance sold me.  If I could be guaranteed he was playing, I'd go to a game for the first time since "the process" started.

Also - he doesn't drink alcohol - but loves Shirley Temples.  The Sixers put togehter a gimmick where they sold $5 Shirley Temples and had a Joel Embiid Shirley Temple recipe card that conveniently had instructions for how to vote for him for ASG.  I remember him saying something like he wished he could get gallon containers of Shirley Temple or something.

Too bad the new "sugary beverage" tax has made the syrup and soda super expensive.

Embiid was introduced to the drink as child in the Cameroon, but he stopped drinking it over time. However, he fell in love with it while he was out one night during his one year at Kansas in 2013-14.

Embiid was empty-handed at an event. He was approached by a female, who wanted to know why.

“I was like ‘I just don’t drink. Alcohol is nasty,’” he recalled.  “She was like ‘Oh, I’m going to have something for you.’ So she went and got a Shirley Temple. And I was like ‘Oh, OK!’

“And then I fell in love with it. Since then, I’ve been drinking it.”

There were reports that Embiid had been consumed with the drink after the Sixers selected him third overall in the 2014 draft. Back then, he had a lot of free time in what was the first of two seasons in the sideline after right foot surgeries.

He was asked Wednesday if he drinks a Shirley Temple every day.

“I cut down a little bit on that,” Embiid said. “I used to drink a lot of them. But I’ve got to keep my diet. So like almost every day.”
