It's time the NBA allows only 1 alternate set per team and maybe a few  throwback nights per season.  With a fresh start with Nike coming, now is the time to get this under control.

Unless the league suddenly decides it hates money, I don't see that happening.

I know it won't happen and that's too bad.  Teams like Houston thought it was worth a few more bucks to destroy their identity with the black and grey garbage.  Have they worn red on the road at all in the playoffs?

It's ok. The Blazers have always had a look I've liked, but every change they've ever made has been so minor. There really isn't much you can do with that pinwheel logo to update it significantly. That's what's so strong about it, but it's also what makes every update kinda meh to me.

This was a nice update to a logo that needed a bit of simplification.  I'm indifferent towards the wordmark since it works fine on the uniforms but without overshadowing Portland's main logo.  The 70's font should only be used on rare occasions since it looks dated compared to most other fonts in the league and when used with Portland's modern stuff.

The serif of the P and the T is bothering me, especially since the T is Trail Blazers doesn't have a serif.

They should have turned the pinwheel back to its original position, that way the P, B, and T are more obvious. Regardless, it's a good upgrade; it's much better than what they currently have.

I'm not a fan of the serifs either, but PORTLAND and TRAIL BLAZERS are two different fonts. If they had used the same serifs, then they would've/should've used the same font for both.

Also, there is no P or T in the pinwheel.

It's been shown on a lot of random stuff over the past 2 seasons and most recently shown on the wall in a hallway in the new arena. Never any acknowledgement from the team, though.

I know, I was just making a joke :P well trying to at least lol

I don't like the way the stripes "join" at the crossing in the Blazers updated logo, or, I say see it, the black stripes don't extend all the way, losing some dynamism from the previous versions because of it. Also, now it looks like one of those simple icons from a set that are meant to work in very small sizes often designed for a brand identity nowadays, it has that kind of aesthetic. I also prefer the 00's version's tapered ends of the stripes, they added dynamism and movement to the logo so characteristic of sports and something this logo is trying to depict.

The "Portland" wordmark is a trainwreck, guys. Having the notches on only the first half of the word and rather poor letter spacing makes it very unbalanced, with the 'PORT' and  'LAND' parts looking like a thing of their own each.

Completely disagree. Taking the notches off the L, A, N, and D is cleaner and better. Plus there aren't really horizontal strokes in those letters to have serifs.  The kerning is perfect in the new Portland wordmark.  We've seen other logos (hello Warriors and previous Blazers wordmark) that are much worse.

It's a lot more modern and cleaner than the "notches on everything, even if they don't belong!!" approach the most recent logo had (the O in Portland is pretty ridiculous):

I don't, either, but it's probably the only way the league would approve this logo, with the least amount of tweaking to the logo we (and ownership) actually want. Same thing happened to the Atlanta Hawks redesign: they couldn't bring back the Pacman logo exactly as before, which is why we got an inferior Pacman.

What about all the negative space around the L and A, and extremely tightly sitting "POR", on the other hand? Total imbalance.
