Orlando's shirts officially released.

They're calling it a "clean new look" but I can't help but wonder what it would look like with the sponsor and Adidas logos in gold.  Restrict white to the badge and MLS patches.

And that jock tag is just lazy.  Which is a word I hate and almost never use.  But Orlando doesn't have any local iconography?  No identifying features, no shared cultural touchstones?  I'm starting to realize just how lucky NYCFC was, or how good our merchandise team is.

Well, there's the Lake Eola fountain.

And if that doesn't work, as much as I hate the "all Orlando has is Disney" stereotype, you could use the Magic Kingdom castle, or a star.

I don't think they could borrow any Disney iconography.  But the fountain could have been a possibility (I'm familiar with that one from the Pride badge).  Or a Florida flag, maybe even done up in Orlando City colors.

Considering a lot of their social media and promotional graphics lately have been focused on the opening of their new stadium, it seems like a missed opportunity to not have some sort of stadium-related graphic on the kit. Kind of similar to the jocktag on RSL's current primary:

That's interesting - hadn't seen that before.  You're right - something like that would have been great.

They don't have a stadium graphic, but the numbers on the sleeve are the coordinates of the new stadium.  The center mark, to be precise, within about an inch.

Apparently, there's a large group that wants them to ditch the green, which seems CRAZY to me.

This picture really gives a good sense of just how off the colors of the new MNUFC kits are. The colors on the scarves are much more accurate.

The colors are fine - Minnesota has two grays in its color scheme, the light gray of the badge and the dark gray of the kits.   And if the blues don't match perfectly, that's something we've seen with NYCFC - scarf manufacturers have their thread colors, and they get as close as they can.

We've seen that in the background of a photo - aside from the silliness of claiming an unrelated team's "birthday", what's really crazy is that nobody seems to know what an apostrophe is anymore.

And source on the "large group that wants them to ditch the green"?  Anecdotally, they seem to sell a ton of rave green merchandise.

I'm well aware that they have two different grays, but I'm mainly talking about the light blue color. The color on the scarves is a pretty close match to the light blue color they've used since they rebranded as Minnesota United, but the light blue on the kits really isn't even close. It's much brighter, almost like the cyan color that the Sounders have used and will be using on their new secondary.

It's mainly from (awful source, I admit) comments I've seen online and on their SB Nation page. I mention that mostly just in passing, though. I guess there's a relatively sizable group who are still kinda pissed off about them not adopting the scheme they wore before entering the MLS. It just seems funny to me that people are STILL holding on to that, despite how popular the green seems to be.

I'm not sure I'd place any weight to internet comments.  Very easy for a tiny minority to seem like a legitimate group.

If only.

I saw one of the Sounders preview campaigns in downtown Seattle last week. Was driving, or else I would have taken a photo.

Seattle loves its Sounders...but I don't think think Seattle loves them that much that some kind of faux-viral preview campaign is necessary. I don't know that they'll attract a single otherwise-uninterested jersey buyer. Especially if it's that pretty boring mock-up/leak posted a few pages back:

It's fine, but necessitating a big ad campaign?

It actually is,you'd be surprised to learn. Tried to recreate it pretty quick:

No, it actually isn't. Note the ventilation holes all around the jersey, like the regular teamwear version of the Condivo 16 template:

IMG_2891.PNG

The Minnesota primary kit doesn't have those ventilation holes:

Instead of a MiAdidas kit, the primary is essentially comparable to what Adidas does for its lower EPL teams like Sunderland and Middlesborough, where they just fill in a basic template with club-specific colors and use the embroidered logos, sewn on stripes, etc. In addition, the ventilation holes don't go around the entirety of the jersey. Look here:

Looks like Houston's change kit.
