The league makes plenty of money. What they don't make is profit, but that's because teams are funneling that money in record amounts into facilities and into youth development. The investment they're making in the future is tremendous, and they wouldn't be doing that if there wasn't a real plan for the long haul. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog. Heck, if only for its ownership group alone LAFC has more personality than the Galaxy does at the moment. Im speaking somewhat metaphorically, but yeah, kinda. They're basically part of that new trend of LA sports teams that'll play in a hugely expensive state of the art sports complex owned by billionaires and will probably instantly be a top contender because of their draw. It's understandable and I don't really hold it against them, but I have to see it as just a tad unfortunate for the rest of the league. Not so much financially, but in terms of competitive balance. I think what im trying to say is that you're right that LAFC probably already does have more personality than the Galaxy, and that's part of what's kind of disappointing. I really don't don't like defending LA teams on basic principle, but I feel for Galaxy I kind of have to. It would definitely be a shame to see a team with as storied of a history as Galaxy relegated to second tier status, no matter the reason. Jer15
I have a feeling that the galaxy will be just fine. They have had a couple down seasons the past 2 years but I'm sure that they will spend some money again with LAFC coming in. admittedly, I'm basing this on nothing. Wings
Just a guess: Sacramento & Tampa Bay are the first of the 4 new expansion teams. They have their stadium deals in order and ownership seems solid even though both have had their issues.

If I had to take a guess at the four clubs once the dust settles I'd say it'll end up like this: Sacramento Tampa Bay Cincinnati Phoenix (A bit of a surprise here, but they've got a really nice little plan in place and a really solid ownership group. Phoenix is also the biggest market bidding for a team right now, I believe) On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) Also depending on the list of media markets both Tampa/St Pete and Phoenix Metro hover around 11 and 12.
Sykotyk
Now that Florida has proven to work (despite the trouble with Miami), gives me thought that MLS will finally revisit Tampa Bay and with the Rowdies name and history, I think they'll do it right this time. And with the Tampa-Orlando rivalry ready to go, that will be matchup that should increase fan appeal even for games not against their rivals. And Atlanta there won't hurt, either. Phoenix is the media market. But, from visiting Phoenix, whatever it takes to put a roof on it and climate-control, would go a long way for fan support. June or July nights like the heat wave right now, still won't feel good. But they're a huge city. Even with all the transplants.

You know with a glass (or whatever material that is) ceiling. If so the Phoenix MLS group needs to seriously pony up and make that happen. People already complain about the heat during MLS games in the summer. A dome in Phoenix would be a necessity. That southwestern desert heat is a different beast. They can do it at Chase Fieldand University of Phoenix. It doesn't need to be a dome, just something that offers shade and possibly the Cool Fan concept football teams use in summer. A retractable dome would be much too expensive. What wouldn't be is the U of Phoenix Stadium concept where the field slides out one end of the stadium into the sun and back for games. This also allows a large open floor space for conventions, other events, etc. It's also far cheaper than making the roof retract due to the weight. A light translucent roof that can be climate controlled would work quite well.
