In fairness, he's accomplished so much.

Has any NFL owner in history sold his team because he admitted he did a lousy job of ownership and if the community deserved a better team, someone else should own it?

Opinions of Rams coaching hunt.

No Patriot coordinators.  Bill Belichick guards his secrets jealously, is a crappy mentor, and Patriot coordinators suck in the head job.

Nobody who has "was sired by NFL coach/coordinator" on their resume.  After the Fisher-era coaching staff, I'm absofrickinlutely done with coaching nepotism.  This isn't a job skill you can get from genetics and I don't care how much good Kyle Shanahan has done.

I'd rather avoid trading a draft pick for a coach.

Nah - Andy Reid can go choke on a pork chop.

Other than that, I think I would take a system where fans are selected each week and tweet the plays and timeouts down to a laptop on the sidelines (or an Apple watch that the QB wears) over Doug Pederson.

Has there ever been a logical reason why the Eagles hired Doug Pederson? Did Eagles management think his system would work in Philly? Did Doug Pederson marry the owners daughter? Hiring the coordinator of one of the worst statistical offenses for three years in a row sounds like a ballsy move and still does a year after he first season.

Andy Reid was a big part of it.  In a way, I think to the FO it symbolizes a "my bad" and essentially going back to Reid.  The only other thing I can think of is that they wanted to get someone that is the polar opposite of Chip Kelly - a boring guy with a "normal" offensive philosophy that is so eager for the opportunity that he'll say "OK sir" to anything the FO says, and can be manipulated.

Edit: the irony is that in some ways, he's actually very different than Reid.  He's very open and honest with the media, which while refreshing, sometimes gest him in trouble. He inadvertently sold-out players and publicized their mistakes, caused controversy among the players by agreeing with a reporter that said that some guys aren't trying, and since he's so open, it exposes his total lack of understanding of basic things - for example, citing percentages of running vs passing in some key situation, and his "facts" were completely wrong.

ONe thing about Reid - players love him because in all but one notable instance, he always took the bullet for them and blamed coaching for a bad play rather than state the obvious which was that a player screwed up.

NFL?  Not that I'm aware of.  But Randy Lerner pretty much said exactly that when he sold Aston Villa FC over in England.

Of course, the difference is that even bad NFL teams make money, and Lerner lost a ton on Aston Villa.  Easy to mouth magnanimous words when you're forced to sell to staunch the bleeding.

I love that statement.  It's like "Yes I'm the problem.  But I own the team, so dealwithit.gif"

Jed York is a pile of garbage. He's basically Dennis Reynolds with uber-rich parents.

But Dennis did have uber-rich parents, that's why The Gang is able to screw around all day and destroy stuff while nominally running a failing business.

Eagles are still taking shots at Chip Kelly!

The GM (who was the old GM before Kelly took over and then became GM again) said (paraphrasing) "we're not trying to build a team that finishes 10-6 every year" (a nod to Kelly's two-straight 10-6 seasons with no playoff wins) "that's not good enough."

Then when asked about why the team was last in the league in big plays "well, if you look back a few years ago, we were first in the league.  I can't get in a Delorean, go back in time, and bring those guys back" (a reference to Chip's releasing of Deshawn Jackson for nothing and trading Lesean McCoy for nothing.)

They hate him.  They traded his last 2nd round pick (cornerback Erik Rowe) - after one season to New England for nothing.  He started 8 games for a 14-2 team, but a team with no cornerbacks didn't want him because he was a Chip guy.  The most vindictive organization EVAH.

Could be a giant SNAFU, FUBAR, ROFL situation developing with the Bills. So the Bills benched Tyrod Taylor in Week 17, because there was nothing to play for and a long-term injury would have forced the Bills to essentially pick up his huge option coming this offseason. Tyrod Taylor had "elective" surgery recently that the Bills apparently found out about on Snapchat. If the recovery from the surgery goes poorly, the team could be on the hook for that option, even after the shenanigans last week.

Two things came to my mind:

- This is a cloud hanging over the coaching search of a job that is already not very desirable. A potential coach may not want Taylor's option, but could be forced to in about six weeks' time.

- If things do go awry, I could see a huge legal battle about whether the surgery was necessary and if the Bills really owe him that money. This, of course, would make the team a laughingstock even more and should scare off any free agent worth having.

FWIW, the Eagles expect them to name Frank Reich head coach - so much so that they blocked the current QB coach from interviewing, which they're only allowed to do if they give him a promotion to the same position (can't block an assistant coach from interviewing for a promotion.)

So they have reason to believe that Reich is going to Buffalo and they're going to promote their QB coach to OC to replace him.

If Frank Reich doesn't work out we can try Andre Reed. Then Bruce Smith. Maybe Kent Hull. Or Don Beebe. And then finally Scott Norwood.

The Bills future is so bleak all they can do is run toward an ultimately unsuccessful past. I don't know how they turn this around.

Chip Kelly is available.  I'm sure Lesean McCoy wouldn't object.
