shstpt1
I was happy they finally got the DR. This US team is pretty talented. Adam Jones is playing the best important ball I've seen him play! I wish there was a better answer at 3B... Arenado has been the rally killer.
2001mark
USA-JPN was hampered by the rain, not a lot of crisp entertaining play going on. @2001mark
ltjets21
Can someone tell me how none of these Japanese players are in the majors? A lot of them seemed to have a lot of talent.

A lot of them seemed to have a lot of talent. One of their star players was mentioned during one of his ABs. I think there's an international free agency eligibility after x number of seasons (or to that effect) & guy was approached by the SF Giants (I think they said). He/his agent was told that SF would probably be moving him around the diamond as a spot starter. He said no & stayed in Japan to play his preferred position & starting spot. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nippon_Professional_Baseball So yeah, just like Ichiro started late, their pros have to have played a block of years before being allowed overseas anywhere for money. Though I'm not 100% certain about that because I think MLB teams can offer boatloads of money if they want to transfer them earlier? I'm not clear on all of it. I'm okay with that, frankly I'd not enjoy the demise of the Nippon League at the expense of MLB. To take away their greatest homegrowns just for us would be bad for such a baseball rich nation such as Japan. @2001mark

SFGiants58
More Jung-Ho Kang drama. Maybe it would be a good idea for the Pirates to make sure they have insurance on his contract. Picked up the SI MLB preview, first time they've listed batting average, on base %, & slugging % as their core stats lines for batting lineups. (zero mention of HR, R, RBI). I'll be curious to see if there's some mini backlash on that from traditional fans. @2001mark

Do they display W-L records for the pitchers? GO OILERS-GO BLUE JAYS-GO ESKIMOS-GO COLTS

SI in the past, & I preferred this from them, they would use projected stats for their slash lines. btw, this MLB issue & their NFL preview I buy every year from SI, a bit more leisurely to go with my Sporting News Yearbooks of both sports... tmi I use the SI's as bathroom readers to be honest, until the WS/SB is done. @2001mark
LA_Angels
Some ideas to speed up the game: 1. Prohibit batters from leaving the box 2. Prohibit the pitchers from leaving the mound. (ie: when getting the ball back, taking a hike around the mound) 3. Limit mound visits (including catcher visits) 4. Have relievers fully warm up in bullpen, then throw 2 max on field, and get it going again. (no 2:30 commercial break for pitching changes)

Alex Houston
So now that we're a few months removed for baseball's biggest curse being broken, has it changed anything for you Cubs fans in how you feel about the team or look at the game? Do you think you'll take losing better or have you savored the win long enough but now it's time to win another? I think back to 2006 and while it was nice to reminisce about finally getting over the hump, I didn't really feel it impacting how I looked at the team or their relation to the rest of the league in general. "And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life... You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry... you will someday."
