Sport
I always liked this one because it didn't give a flip about the green car superstition.

CS85
My dad grew up a NASCAR fan and my uncle and gramps got into it for a time, so little by little I got some NASCAR views in. My thoughts, unranked: Labonte classic Dale Earnhardt is timeless Liked the Dale Jr baseball car: Jeff Gordon's rainbow Dupont cars were always cool: And perhaps the most famous, Richard Petty's STP: Quote "You are nothing more than a small cancer on this message board. Disclaimer: (Jeff Gordon is my favorite driver so I would probably put most of his paint schemes on my list) i thought this was cool because it's the two cars together and I had forgotten that Earnhardt's car was red inside Also, I love the square body styles of the 70's and 80's Im sure there are more I'm forgetting but that what this thread is for. Just an outstanding look. I also LOVE that Alan Kulwicki made this list. Polish victory laps for us all! Unocal
Say what you want about the sponsor, but the actual paint schemes were VERY impressive:
Pabig
Can someone please change the thread title to "Best NASCAR paint schemes" or something similar? Reading "Nascars" used as a noun hurts. A lot. Having said that, I always loved the Texaco Havoline paint schemes. As seen here driven by Juan Pablo Montoya. His ride from the 2009 Brickyard 400 was also really cool, throwing back to his IndyCar days. Too bad he wasn't allowed to win that day.

I was not aware of that. Thanks for sharing. I guess it just looks more modern to me with the chrome trend we've seen on football helmets over the last few years. Luigi74
I'm not a big NASCAR fan but I always dug the look and paint jobs of the mid 70's to mid 80's cars, maybe because I had some Matchbox or slot cars that looked like them.

You like the Texaco Havoline cars, but chose that as your example? That was probably my least favorite of them all. There's Ernie Irvan, one of my favorite drivers from when I was growing up, who drove it from 1993-1997. Or the original Davey Allison scheme, from 1987-1989 The more red-centric version that Kenny Irwin, Jr, and Ricky Rudd drove from 1999-2001 The no-red version Rudd drove in 2002 The black, yellow, and silver design Jamie McMurray drove in 2003 Or when they finally came to their senses and brought back the black and red version for McMurray and Casey Mears from 2004-2006, before Montoya's design started in 2007
