Htown1141
Just showing off my new design. Been thinking about it for a while but made this in a day. My old logo looked a bit amateur to me recently so tell me what you guys think! My initials are H(ouston) I M(ark) Old logo: New Logo: I have a dribbble! Thank you jaha32! H11K
Was about to say I could hardly make out the I, then the negative space hit me. Nice work, solid logo!
Htown1141
Gracias for the compliment Here it is with the wordmark, over a semi-decent photo of the Appalachians for the *aesthetic* I have a dribbble! Thank you jaha32!
CS85
I'd honestly like it a lot more if the MH was solid without the tiny lines breaking up the shape. May also want to make your spacing even so that the sides of the M are equidistant to the gaps above the round marks above/below the primary portion of the letters. I also didn't even realize that the HM wasn't completely centered until this morning, but I couldn't post anything until now bc life. Here are 4 options Here is the 3'rd option (my fav) in the aesthetic I have a dribbble! Thank you jaha32!
ZionEagle
Personally, I think options one and two are the strongest, but all of them are an upgrade from your previous marks "Winners never quit, and quitters never win." ~Vince Lombardi
CS85
Have you tried making the outline of the shield hollow? Might make for an interesting look and keep the strength of the logo on the lettering? I'll certainly try it out but I just don't know what you mean I have a dribbble! Thank you jaha32!
CS85
I worded it poorly. I meant making the border look like this circle here (there's a word for it but my coffee/sleep addled brain has no idea what it is at the moment): Quote "You are nothing more than a small cancer on this message board. You are not entertaining, you are a complete joke." twitter
Htown1141
@CS85I got you I tried it with 2 different versions of the "broken" logo (one with a heavier weight. Just personal preference, I like the thicker break in the lines and the blue HM in the 2-tone. I think it just seems a little bit better ) I have a dribbble! Thank you jaha32! BrandMooreArt
i think this one i've pulled is the best and would suggest making some minor edits. what you have is a great foundation and just needs some love on the details. 1. color - the blue you have right now is electric and hard on the eyes. i would suggest moving to a blue that is softer like i've adjusted here. 2. monogram - when you break apart the M from the H too much, you lose the form of the H and it starts to read as "II". but because of the way the letters interlock and because of the I formed by negative space, i think its best to lock all MH up as a solid shape. also would suggest straightening the M; it's current slight curves are a bit unflattering. 3. weight - the green lines show the different in letter and line weights. i think this is going to look a lot better if all the spacing and weights are the same width. it will probably be best to make the outer strokes just a touch smaller so they pair better visually (they might look bigger if everything is exactly the same size) 4. type - the font you're using for your name is too different from the mark. contrast can be good but there has to be unity as well and they don't share any qualities with one another. i would look for a tall sans-serif like Bebas or Steelfish and the like. Htown1141
Welp... It's about time I come finish it off. @BrandMooreArt, I just want to say that I love your work and I admire what your skill, so I couldn't have been more grateful that you decided to comment on my personal rebrand. I have taken those thoughts into consideration and created a custom typeface that I personally enjoy, and probably is better than the previous one I was using. I also squared off the edges and I think it made a hellofa difference. My theme for the usage was originally be Texas A&M themed, but, yanno, the UH conspiracy an' all, so I decided to go an Oilers route. tell me what y'all think! CS85
I dig the cleanup! Would you humor me by putting this as a black on white? On a side note, I'm not a big fan of the Oilers stuff. I feel the logo itself is quite strong, but the use of color and mix of styles doesn't serve the brand. What I see when I look at this is a lot of imagery closely related to American Indian symbols. Some examples: I think you'd profit from prominently featuring the logo and using a wordmark that is similarly angular, like Quarz 974 Light. Just my two cents, man. I think you've got a good thing going. Quote "You are nothing more than a small cancer on this message board. Htown1141
@CS85 Black on white, here ya go. Also, I never really thought of it like that. I've kinda just thought of it as like a dog tag design, as well, it fits nicely on a dog tag. I've tried out another custom font, but it isn't necessarily one you were talking about. One like the Oilers, one not so much I have a dribbble! Thank you jaha32!
Htown1141
I've been messing around with different applications and I think I'm the most confident I can be with it. I have a dribbble! Thank you jaha32!
