This may sound crazy, however Florida would make a great place for an outdoor game, probably a stadium series game. The perfect place would be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers stadium (Raymond James Stadium). Tampa Bay can reach the temperature of nearly 32 F, a perfect temperature and can sustain ice long enough. This would be perfect for these two Florida teams, shedding much press attention on what would have otherwise been a fairly unnoticed event by them. The jersey were based off the old Tampa jerseys mashed together and were meant for Tampa only, however the Panthers looked too good in them to pass by. Generally the theme besides storm vs sun is retro jerseys. The arena would be set up with palm trees all around the outskirts similar Minnesota's pine tree display. There would be a small picture above the arena of a sun facing off against a storm, pushing against one another. This would be between the logos. When the Bolts come out lightning coils will activate as they walk in. When the Panthers walk in fire will erupt followed by gold-ish smoke. Worst case scenario it all melts .

Eventually, this could become a reality when the NHL runs out of locales to hold outdoor games, however attendance would be in all likelihood decently underwhelming, especially in a football stadium, and your uniforms need a lot of adjusting. The main way you're billing this is Sun vs. Storm, which makes perfect sense, but you're uniforms don't express this enough. This is what I would do for each team:

Panthers

-Make the jerseys as warm as possible, with as little blue as possible. Really emphasize the Sun theme.

-The retro theme won't work for two teams introduced in the 90's, especially in a Stadium Series game which are always very modern.

-The updated Panther logo is a great choice for a Stadium Series game, regardless of the theme. But If you're going to use the Sun and Palm Tree logo, I think you'd have to update it.

- DO NOT use a cookie cutter design for both jerseys.

Lightning

-Use a lightning logo instead of the bolts script

-Make the jersey a brighter color to embody lightning

Retool here and really run with your theme and you'll have a fantastic concept, because the idea is a pretty cool one. Stick with this!
