(Of course I know you like using that meme) Anyway guess some predictions: Caps in 6 Pens in 6 Bruins in 6 Rangers in 7 Hawks in 6 Wild in 7 Oilers in 6 Ducks in 6

INTO THE FLOOD AGAIN SAME OLD TRIP IT WAS BACK THEN SO I MADE A BIG MISTAKE TRY TO SEE IT ONCE MY WAY The Sharks will certainly underwhelm again in the playoffs. I don't think they can avoid the Western Conference's "big guns" this time around, and I doubt their ability to beat the Oilers. After the reverse sweep, I've learned to keep my expectations low (which made last year all the more entertaining). I'm doing the same this year. If they go on a big run, it'll be a pleasant surprise. The Elixir of Numb has done its duty, and now I am ready for anything, even an attack from a Procyon lotor that's just escaped it's would-be exterminator.

Dynasty 2,411 Posted April 9, 2017 Oh, it's the 2017 NHL Playoff thread! I totally recognized it at first glance. Go Capitals, Blue Jackets, or anyone that isn't a historical juggernaut.
FiddySicks 11,202 Posted April 9, 2017 T'would be nice if we could defend our Western Conference title this year. If not though? I've watched, literally, zero hockey this year.
wildwing64 1,702 Posted April 9, 2017 I'm so glad we're not playing the Perds again. Holy sh!t, the Wings aren't in? What madness is this?
Crabcake 1,706 Posted April 9, 2017 Are those matchups confirmed @the admiral? I think I read somewhere that depending on what the Maple Leafs do Boston could possibly play Washington in the 1st round.

Yeah, Toronto plays Ottawa in the first round if the Leafs manage to get at least a point tonight.
the admiral 28,759 Posted April 9, 2017 That might actually work out better. The Bruins could have a better shot at bouncing the Caps, having as they do two of the best players of all time.
Kramerica Industries 1,989 Posted April 9, 2017 I guess a decent outcome for today would be to have the Leafs-Sens and the Flames-Oilers in the 1st round of the playoffs. Also would ensure a California matchup as well for that matter. If we're gonna be doing regional playoffs, might as well go all out. Guess I need to brush off my old bandwagon avatar for this year's playoffs. Sigh. Was nice not needing to use it these past three years.
FGM13 767 Posted April 9, 2017 I don't know if I actually want the Oilers to win the division. I think that they can beat both the Sharks and Flames but a Battle of Alberta series could go either way and would probably kill me. That being said, it would be just about the coolest thing ever so I'm not totally opposed to it.
Brass 3,460 Posted April 9, 2017 1. Don't spear anyone in the nuts. 2. Don't get a lead and then let in two goals in the last minute and thirty of the game. 3.
Crabcake 1,706 Posted April 10, 2017 @the admiral's matchups are now correct as the Leafs lost to the Beej. Caps-Leafs and Bruins-Sens.

If the Oilers win and the Ducks don't get a point we get a Battle of Alberta in the first round.
Sport 14,093 Posted April 10, 2017 The silly playoff format is robbing the Blue Jackets of first round home ice and a better chance at advancing, but we are in the dance and that's all I could've asked for in October. This is great.
SabresRule7361 553 Posted April 10, 2017 No Battle of Ontario. No Battle of Alberta. What first round series am I suppposed to be fired up for? I don't see anything that reminds me of, say, Blues/Blackhawks last year or Flyers/Penguins 2012 where it's a series that you have to watch
