Durant will make the same from endorsements with or without the Warriors being successful; he was doing great in OKC, even those years he was injured.

I'm looking forward to some of the "sources say" and "off the record" comments from players. It's never good to count anyone else's money, but there's basically never a good reason to take money from players and gift it to owners. Especially Lacob and Guber.

I'm at the point where I'm wondering just what it's gonna take for you to say something positive about the Warriors and/or Druant.

News: Kevin Durant saved a box of dalmatian puppies from a burning building today.

DG: Ugh, that just means there's more potential for over-breeding an aggressive dog breed, and it's directly his fault now. How does Kevin Durant not know we already have enough cute puppies in this world?

Please. I always give credit where it's due. The Warriors draft well and are the best-run team in the league. They play the best too. I also think they're bad for the sport in ways other mega teams haven't been. That's my opinion; no one has to agree with it.

It's possible to understand and appreciate something without liking it.

Durant took the pay cut for 2 reasons, guys.

1. To help the Warriors be bale to see more depth, even though they don't really need it.

2. He has more than enough money already & probably gets more from endorsements than he does the NBA itself.

Unlike most NBA players, he was willing to sacrifice a little off the top so he could help his team win. That's not illegal by any means.... what the Wolves were doing was because they signed him to THREE 1 year deals in a row. Had it been a 3 year deal on Smith for less than he would've had in Golden State, I bet nothing happens to the Timberwolves. McHale admitted they did what they did poorly & that's why it cost them.

moves like that should be illegal.  It makes a mockery of the salary cap (not that the NBA cap isn't a complete cluster f of loopholes and jargon) and only makes it harder for the "have nots" to compete, because they're not going to get the discount.

If you support this move, but trash The Process, then you're a hypocrite.  Would any other free agent take significantly less to sign with a team like the Sixers or Bucks or some other crap team?  Nope.  Hence the need for a process.

So the Hawks, Clippers, and Nuggets are in discussions of a three-team deal....not sure what would be leaving the Hawks, but the Hawks would be receiving Jamal Crawford (who would either get bought out or flipped...won't be playing for Hawks), a player with the actual name of Diamond Stone, and the first-round pick the Clippers got from their Chris Paul deal.

Yeah, the Kings are gonna be fun next year. Not good, but definitely fun.

I think The Process is a smart move but I'd rather draft that talent while keeping pieces of the core around, allowing the kids to see what a winning culture is like & hopefully make them strive to continue those winning ways when the studs leave..... aka the Utah Jazz/San Antonio Spurs/Toronto Raptors line of thinking. They're building for the future with the prospects they have, but also have solid players everywhere (Well, we'll see with Hayward & Utah....).

As for the Kings, bringing in vets to help the young core out might be a good move...... not good enough to make the playoffs, but competitive. I feel bad for Memphis losing Z-Bo though. He was pretty stellar & underrated off the bench for them last year. 14 points, 8 rebounds & 1.4 blocks per game while playing only 24 minutes a game.... he could be very helpful to Willey Cauley-Stein's development.

It's nice that for the second straight Independence Day, Kevin Durant has turned the idea of a competitive NBA into a farce.

EDIT: Kudos Kings! It's nice to see a franchise that wasted 15 years all of a sudden get on the (seemingly) right track.

Dave Joerger is still coach to start the season. SAC was 23rd in pace last year which was the highest in Dave's four years.

Fun?

Thank you, Utah.

This was a life-changing decision for me and my family, and something we took really seriously. And from the very start of this process, one thing stood out as important: I knew that I wanted the fans and the organizations to hear my decision directly from me.

After seven years in Utah, I have decided to join the Boston Celtics.

I know that will be tough to hear for Jazz fans — and I really want you all to know that you mean the world to me and my family. Over the past few days, I’ve been genuinely torn. And I know that this process isn’t easy on the fans, either. So I just want to be as straight-up as possible about why I’m coming to Boston.
