Maybe the shades will be sufficiently distinct? Or maybe Vancouver will change colors again and it'll be moot. This is why I’ve been hoping for light blue and forest green. Scrumptious Ham
German Vancouver colors are so beautiful. Going back would be an amazing thing. Dark navy scares me that Kraken may be the pick. It's a very fitting color for that name. It definitely doesn't scream Sockeyes.

Thaumatrope
Wishful thinking on my part, but really hoping the "super dark, almost black, navy" rumor is due to someone seeing an equally dark green (especially a shade with a fair amount of blue in it like a deep sea green) and mistaking it for navy. Obviously a stretch, but I can remember a number of folks looking at some early leaks from the Anaheim Ducks rebrand and swearing that the black was actually a very dark green. (As an aside, I really wish Anaheim would have gone with orange and green for the rebrand. It would have made for much more unique color combination and arguably made the brand more interesting.) Scrumptious Ham
I loved the skate logo look so much. It's one of my all time faves in sports. Tied with Houston Oilers and Bucs creamsicle. With all three looks, it's all about the colors and how they use them. Vancouver did black yellow and red just right. The logo itself is so beautiful because of color placement. IceCap
The skate look for Vancouver doesn't work for me. First, the logo's a skate. They can do better. Secondly, the colours just don't say "Vancouver" or "Pacific northwest" to me. The BC Lions get away with black and orange because it's sort of a pseudo-naturalistic colour scheme for the animal their name references, and they're using the BC name. Implying they're representing inland BC along with the coast. A team that is representing Vancouver first and foremost, however, should look like a team from the PNW. I guess the West Coast Express identity accomplished that as well, but it was also WAY too late 90s/early 2000s. Blue and green works well in comparison. Yeah it would also work for the Seattle [INSERT NAME HERE] but tough. Vancouver's been in the league since 1970 and Seattle NHL doesn't even have a name yet. So the Canucks get priority on the green and blue. 11 hours ago, Ben in LA said: Talk about cold takes wow. Hockey fans like city where hockey fans have been starved for a team for decades. Scrumptious Ham
I hear you on the colors. They are out of place for the city. I can understand that Vancouver natives may be hesitant to go back. It's totally me looking through selfish glasses. I love it all so much. I think it's so cool they turned equipment in to a very beautiful logo. I wouldn't be surprised if im in the unpopular opinion camp on this one.

Just as an alternate jersey. The team's had such a problem with identity that it's a really bad idea to flip-flop on it again. I'd say the current look is the peak of the Canucks' main visual identity; the original colors, the Orca and the Stick-and-Rink.

I totally agree with the Canucks sticking with blue, green and white. Not only because they are PNW colours but they're the Canucks' original colours. However, red and yellow do have a Vancouver/Western Canadian look to them. The red is Canadian, the yellow represents BC's sunsets while the black, as a dark base, complements both the red and yellow. As for Seattle, they could still have their own version of blue and green. The Canucks are royal blue with kelly green but Seattle could be forest green with sky blue/teal/seafoam. The_Admiral
The Canucks were red-orange, yellow, and black because it was the '70s and that was the kind of thing you did back then, but then a new uniform manufacturer didn't make that same reddish-orange dye, so they had to switch to regular red. Maybe there's something Canadian about that. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Tygers09
Ok when you're talking about the Canucks, I understand the popularity of the original blue and green color scheme, I get, it represents the Pacific Northwest. But the C Rink logo on the original uniforms, is too bland for me just like some people think about the skate logo on the early 90's uniforms. I like the German colors because they're unique, not that it doesn't represent the team name. My favroite uniforms overall are the ones from 1997 to. 2007. Yes they didnt have green, I can except that (most people can't, but hey can't make everyone happy), but the ocra out of ice logo and those colors were the best, IMO. Now talking about Seattle, I say keep the Salmon Red, seafoam green, and maybe throw in a deep purple or eggplant like the original Mighty Ducks jerseys. There's enough uniforms or team colors that have navy or blue colors in the league.

Theirs was something they just flat out screwed up on and never bothered to rectify, though. monkeypower
I never knew about either the Canucks red-orange thing nor the Kings powder blue thing until right now. That's really interesting I wonder how many other jerseys/logo changes from "back in the day" were because of accidents, a change in manufacturer or the Hudson's Bay Company not carrying the specific style of wool sweaters anymore. Same thing happened with the Denver Broncos. Pre-'78 the Broncos were a redder shade of orange. The team's success in '77 led to a higher demand for Broncos fan gear, and apparel companies complained that they couldn't match that shade. The Broncos switched to orange-orange in '78. The fame of the "Orange Crush" nickname was also an incentive. Per a newspaper article from the Evening Independent (St. Petersburg, FL) from '78.
