Let's make this decision easy.  Seattle Totems.  Kelly green with silver trim.  Start making the uniforms.

Haha, no! No more Native American-themed names without tribal consent.

OK - appears you do not like Totems for a name.  Can't deny that kelly green uniforms with silver trim would be sweet!

Does it have to be Seattle Sockeyes? Why not Seattle Salmon? I feel like that sounds more professional, and at the very least a majority of people would actually know what it is right away. I was unsure what a sockeye was at first, but I’ve known what a salmon is for quite some time.

And I think Seattle Salmon sounds a lot better than Seattle Sockeyes

I actually really like the name Sockeye/s because that particular salmon is absolutely HUGE to the fishing industry in that area. I like it because it’s a decent regional touch.

Seattle Salmon sounds kinda lame, but I’m sort of sensitive to that name anyway. My home town is really known for the yearly spawning of the Kokanee Salmon (basically the freshwater version of Sockeye) and my first junior college “mascot” name was the Mighty Fighting Salmon. They’ve since changed it to the coyotes, which is TRASH. MFS was amazing because it was just so incredibly stupid.

SOCKEYES OR BUST

Seattle Bust then...

Alliteration is ALL people can think of when proposing a new team name,  Not every team has to be an alliteration.  It sounds bush league most of the time...

That would be awesome...particularly if they resist the urge to add black.

The early 1980s Eagles scheme was terrific (even if their sleeve stripes were a disaster).

I prefer Sockeye.

Salmon just doesn't resonate with me, doesn't sound bold enough for a team. But Sockeye, even though a Salmon, does.

Then you also have the fun aside of a black eye motif.

Blue and green conflicts with the Nucks.  Kelly green and silver conflicts with the Stars.  But this is the same league who has multiple red white and blue teams, multiple blue and white teams, and multiple black and yellow teams, so I guess it doesn't matter.

If they were green-blue instead of blue-green that would work perfectly because it is basically the opposite of the Canucks.

Not if they use a Seahawks/Sounders or even Mariners version of blue and green. Throw in a gold or silver or another tertiary color and it'll further separate the two teams.

Isn't the plural of 'Sockeye' just 'Sockeye'? Naming them the "Sockeye'S'" would be pretty dumb. At least the Leafs have the excuse that they're technically named after an army regiment.

"The noun sockeye can be countable or uncountable. In more general, commonly used, contexts, the plural form will also be sockeye. However, in more specific contexts, the plural form can also be sockeyes e.g. in reference to various types of sockeyes or a collection of sockeyes"

https://www.wordhippo.com/what-is/the-plural-of/sockeye.html

Even if Sockeye would work as the plural, I think teams should avoid names not ending in 's' whenever possible. It obviously sounds awkward because we've always known Colorado as the Avalanche, but I would've still preferred it if they went with Avalanches instead.

I'm still hoping they go with Emeralds or Totems, but I'm starting to come around on Sockeyes.

When it comes to animal names, I like it better when teams go as specific as possible instead of just a generic animal (i.e. Grizzlies vs. Bears, Bengals vs. Tigers, Greyhounds vs. Ice Dogs, etc.).

Sockeyes is totally minor league. May as well call them the Mighty Sockeyes.

On another note I think the colour scheme has already been chosen: red black and slate grey.

I thought I've heard that the red and black they've been using is purely for promotional material.  You would think if red and black was a main option they'd have put that in the online poll.  The options were: green and blue, green and something else, blue and something else, anything but green and blue.

I hate the idea of red and black.  Too many teams have that, similar to the trailblazers should avoid as well.

I still think green and yellow would look good.

No other team is currently using it, looked good for the Seals and North Stars.

Yeah there's plenty of nice options they can go with without looking anything like Vancouver.

Its been confirmed that they are not using green and gold, or blue and green.

Red is clearly being pushed as its in every piece of promo material. The fact that the team page is asking for some input on colour palettes is immaterial as teams ignore these surveys all the time and simply go with their original choice. If they were serious about wanting input they would put an actual palette up instead of this vague selection of one colour.

Im saying it again: red black and slate grey. These are the colours on the website. They seem to neatly tie in with the Metropolitans and a few other historic Seattle teams without being too garish, and they tie in with the Sockeyes name that keeps being floated. It would be a pretty unique scheme in the NHL.

A nice hunter green with medium gray and white trim would be fine. Unique to the league. Won’t get confused with Dallas, Vancouver or Minnesota.

I'd love them to get full tribal blessing and be the Totems. Set up a scholarship fund for the tribe. Donate a portion of sales each year to the tribe. Even get their input on the design. I'm so tired of all the conflict, do it right, as a true honor and benefit all.

This mock up has always been a favorite of mine.
