Facility-wise, I don't see how the Boise Hawks remain in the conversation for securing a newly-elevated High A Northwest League team. Memorial Stadium is a laggard amongst affiliated minor league ballparks when it comes to the quality of player development facilities... and it's not even close. Now, to be sure, the majority of the Northwest League's venues are wanting when it comes to measuring up to the better Carolina League and Midwest League ballparks with regard to player development facilities. Hillsboro's Ron Tonkin Field is currently the class of the NWL when it comes to such amenities... and it's on par with Midwest League stadia that are in danger of not making the cut. Still, Memorial Stadium would be looking up at all of the other NWL ballparks in such regards. In fact, most of the Appalachian League and New York-Penn League facilities that have been given the boot from affiliated minor league ball had better player development-related amenities than Memorial Stadium. Additionally, Boise is the geographic outlier when it comes to the NWL's footprint. Unless someone has offered to write an awfully big check for upgrades and guarantee that they'll be in place pretty damned quick, I just don't get it.

Boise i believe has been trying to get a new stadium built the past few years but have come up empty. I believe it was Tri City and Salem Keizer that were on the original chopping block but who knows now.  Salems ballpark was opened in 1997 and Tri City in 1994, but Tri City also has an unusual layout in that it faces South rather than the more traditional East-Northeast. Because of which they built a giant wall or shade to block the setting sun to help with the setting sun in fans eyes. Everett was renovated in the late 90s. Vancouver and Spokane have old ballparks but have been modernized and renovated in recent years. Eugene and Hillsboro have the newest parks.

As for attendance, Salem and Tri City were at the bottom in 2019, followed by Everett and Boise. Vancouver and Spokane are the top two teams despite older stadiums. Boise, Tri City and Everett have the lowest seating capacities, while again Vancouver and Spokane have the highest.

Not sure if it has been mentioned here, but San Antonio will be dropping from AAA to AA and won't be affiliated with the Brewers (per Brewer beat reporter Twitter).

Harsh...didn't they just go up to AAA a few years ago?

2019 was their first and only year in AAA since 2020 was cancelled. 2020 was supposed to be Wichita's first year in AAA, but now they'll return to AA, where the Wrangler's last played in 2007 before moving to NW Arkansas, without ever playing a game in AAA.

They also were still playing at a ballpark that wasnt at AAA standards. They were hoping to build one but I dont think it got far in the planning stages.

I live in San Antonio. There has been absolutely no progress on a new stadium. The building sites they have been looking at are now too expensive, already taken, or didn't really work in the first place. And good luck trying to fund it in this city. Moving back to AA is probably for the best.

That's really a shame...San Antonio is at LEAST a AAA (if not future MLB expansion) kind of city.

Hopefully they'll get their act together one of these years so the Alamo City can get back in the PCL...

I would be stunned if Wisconsin (Appleton) isn't in Milwaukee's plans. It was their Alternate Training Site this year.

Thanks for this summary.

Rumor has it that Myrtle Beach could be moving down to the Low-A Sally League, so for the Cubs, their path could look like this:
AZL > Myrtle Beach > South Bend > Tennessee > Iowa

Also, the last I checked, it appears Richmond will remain the Double-A affiliate for San Francisco.

Brewers beat writer, when asked if there was any fear of losing Wisconsin as an affiliate, responded "I wouldn't worry about that"

Oh - and Carolina likely their low A affiliate

Fresno does not want to go to the California League:

EDIT: Both the Mayor and Mayor-Elect of Fresno support the Grizzlies' attempt to stay:

This has to be the closest any MLB team is to it's high-A, AA, and AAA teams.  The Mets are close, but their AA is nearly 4 hours away.

EDIT: never heard of the Williamsport Crosscutters but I assume they gone.

I think Williamsport is a short season A club, which makes them a prime contender to be axed.

Yeah Williamsport will be heading to independent ball (or whatever NYPL becomes)

The Yankees triangle will likely be the closest out of everyone. Hudson Valley is between the "h" and "y" of "Lehigh Valley" on that map above, then Somerset is below the "g" in "Pigs", then Scranton/WB is the northwest corner of the "P" in "Pigs"

I still haven't heard who the odd man out is at AA. Supposedly Jacksonville is moving up to AAA, while San Antonio and Wichita are moving down to AA. If that's true, then one team from the Southern or Texas Leagues will have to go. Or they could add a team (New Orleans?), and drop two Eastern League teams (Bowie?, Richmond?).

I think the Jackson Generals (Tennessee, not Mississippi) are gonna end up getting the axe...
