You know what? I kinda hope the US misses out on the World Cup. It might actually be a wake up call that they need to put something into actual development (ESPECIALLY on the coaching side) rather than recycling the same old crap that doesn't work.

Kellyn Acosta doesn't quite look up for the position he was put in.

At the very least I think we're forever done with Omar Gonzalez on the USMNT. He killed them tonight, no matter what else happens.

They've been recycling the same old crap for a reason: Other than Jurgen Klinsmann, it's not as though world-class coaches have ever exactly been beating a path to USSF's door even when the USMNT's been successful. If they don't qualify for Russia they could be back in the wilderness for a long time to come.

Maybe that's what it'll take. What they're doing now obviously isn't working. Maybe a full scale rebuild where they actually develop from top to bottom rather than hope for middling international coaches or MLS retreads.

Oh no.

Well, I guess that's that. The US has good company with Chile and the Netherlands, but boy does that suck.

Super happy for Panama though. Roman Torres is awesome to watch both here in Seattle and internationally, and I'm glad they have an opportunity for the World Cup.

I think this is the wake up needed for the USMNT. Destroy everything, start over and revolve around young blood and player development. Pulisic is just a piece but they need more than that. But in the long run it will be beneficial for US Soccer as a whole.

At least MLS won't be as severely affected next summer. Arena needs to hand in his resignation tonight. Gulati will probably go as well. The kids weren't allowed to contribute at the end. I think a player like Dom Dwyer who would throw his body around was what we needed tonight. Gonzalez shouldn't have been on the field.  Cameron was a much better option. You can say the field was crap, which it was, but when the whistle blows get on with it.
