Gothamite
Agreed. I understand that the commissioner is reluctant to force a team to make a change, but c’mon. It’s 20- ing-17. It gets more unacceptable every year. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.

Has a New Era logo on the side and may be made from a different material. Could be our first look at the 2018 BP caps. Good call. That's definitely the same "B" as the road jersey. PhysicalGraffiti
If anything I hope they get rid of the New Era logo on the side for all teams. I realize that isn't gonna happen, but I still don't like it for the on field hats. I loved that they were different than fashion fitted hats. Everyone knew it was a New Era hat, no need to add the logo. Oh well.

Indians flag in red, marlins in orange, cardinals in navy blue. Hide em a little.

Tonal flags would absolutely be the best (dare to dream), but yeah they could at least match the flags. Some of them stick out like a sore thumb. I don't care about Wahoo one way or the other, but one question I have for those screaming for it's removal...if the logo is so offensive, then how about offering up a replacement Indian logo that isn't offensive? That would seem like a reasonable way to reach a compromise on this, IMO. To just say get rid of it and be done with it isn't gonna fly in this case. I don’t think there is such thing as an acceptable logo featuring an Indian. In my opinion, the only way Cleveland gets a new logo that is not something like the block C or cursive I is by changing the name of the franchise. BBTV
Everyone has heard the other side’s arguments. They all boil down to “I like it, it’s always been that way, it doesn’t offend ME, so they should keep it” or “THE PC POLICE STRIKE AGAIN!!!!” So there’s really no argument. "The views expressed here are mine and do not reflect the official opinion of my employer or the organization through which the Internet was accessed." Having a team maintain an existing respectful Native American logo (a la the Blackhawks or Seminoles) is one thing, but debuting a brand new Native American logo in the year 2017 would be completely counterproductive. Not every team needs a logo that related to their nickname, and that's doubly true when a team is named after Native Americans. I know the block C is criticized for being boring and/or muddled, but I think that can largely be solved by a simple outline. I've mocked up a few potential versions. Personally, I like the one on the far left - a white logo outlined in red. It'd distinguish the Indians well from the Red Sox and Cardinals, and I think it'd look pretty distinctive. The only workable way forward using imagery would be a Spokane Indians approach and partner with a tribe or tribes with roots in NE Ohio and have the tribes drive the boundaries for the use of imagery., But Wahoo people want their awful cartoon. There's really no compromise with that.
The_Admiral
The Cleveland Indians existed before Chief Wahoo and they can exist after him. I gave it a lot of slack as a classic baseball logo but here in the renaissance of white supremacists it's not worth defending anymore. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

The_Admiral
Yeah, because it's their team and they like things they way they've always been (or have been for most of their lifetimes). When people come after the Blackhawks next -- and they will, no matter how much you hear "the Blackhawks are respectful," they will -- I'm not going to say that maybe we can compromise by writing "Chicago Blackhawks" in the Sauk language or something, I just won't want them to change anything because that's my team and I like the way they've always looked. Sports are sentimental and dumb like that. I recognize that Wahoo has to go now but I understand why people want it preserved in amber, so to speak. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
