Wow. I never thought they'd actually do it and I'm not sure if I like it. Maybe I'm just not used to it, but the hat logo feels a little too thin for that large space. The D they used for the chest seemed to make sense for that particular application while the hat logo works better on the hat.

I've always enjoyed that little quirk for the Tigers. Felt right for a team of their age before everything was vectored and computerized and standardizing everything does sort of remove some personality and heart from an already dry look. Same reason why I've never wanted the Yankees to match theirs either. Hmmm. It'll take some getting used to.

I agree. I don't particularly like the Tigers' home uniforms (or the Yankees' homes). But both are perfect for them and shouldn't have ever been changed. Since the Tigers' home set isn't sacred anymore, then they might as well make it about 1000x better by adding orange outlines to everything.

This is what the Royals will be wearing.

Oh that sucks. I hope the Mariners at least keep their TATC look. Hat Club finally got the rights to use the TATC logo on a cap and they just re released these. I picked one up a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it.

Something about the jersey D just looked right on a shirt. I think maybe it was the rounded top part vs the jaggedness of the cap logo.

I loved both, and hated myself for it. That being said, they should’ve kept the jersey logo for both.

The jersey D would look OK on the cap and great on the jersey, while the cap D looked great on the cap but not good on the jersey.

Great on the cap outweighs ok on a cap, regardless of jersey ramifications imo.. I would imagine # of caps sold vastly outweighs # of jerseys sold (although I could be completely wrong).. Plus, the cap D is worn both home and road, while the jersey D is only worn at home

Oh, I forgot to say earlier, I absolutely LOVE the Tigers jersey change. Despite the history of having the mismatching D's, that is LONG overdue. They also picked the right D, too. That fat topped D looks really awkward, where the cap D had always looked fantastic,

The cap change, though? Not so much a fan of that one. I feel that it ultimately won't really matter much as we get used to it (same with the jerseys), but that larger D does NOT look good at first glance. McCarthy is right, it looks like a knockoff. The smaller D was kinda part of the charm of that cap set too, IMO.

Personally, I picked up on the reference immediately, but I can see your point if someone did not know the connection.

Name closer entrance themes from the '90s/2000s: I've got "Enter Sandman" for Rivera, "Hell's Bells" for Hoffman, and that's it. If you know who he is, you know what the bell is.

Longshot, but does this mean the Tigers' road hat is gone? I hope so.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Looking at those photos, they definitely chose the wrong D.

In my years past I used to really dislike the disparity that the yanks and tigers had as it made no logical sense. Over the years I have changed course and when you look at the side by side I think the whole legacy analog disparity works much better for both clubs. The rough cut on the jerseys and the more refined embroidery on the hat was a great balance of perfection. Sometimes having perfect laser cut lines and proportions is just not aesthetically pleasing because it's too uniform. Also putting the hat D on the jersey leaves way too much white space.

No, thankfully the road hat is still around.  The white D logo on the hat with the orange-heavy road unis is like the Rams' uniforms. Just awkward.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

My rival high school has used the chest D on their hats going back as long as I can remember and I always preferred it to the hat logo the Tigers used. It's sturdier.

@Bmac, how many more hats/unis have yet to be unveiled?  We've seen three today, plus still anticipating a thing or two for the A's.

The A's should be unveiling theirs today (I think people here are going to be happy). Off the top of my head I think there's one more alternate uniform we haven't seen. And two hats. There's also some special event stuff in the works but I'm not sure how that's going to be handled.

It's much more within the family of old english font D's, which makes it feel more familiar and probably why I liked it better. The hat logo is more stylized and more distinct to the Tigers, which I guess is a point in its favor.
