I don't pay much attention to Spring Training, but I noticed something about those silly patterned names and numbers that makes them even sillier: If a team wears a front number on its Spring Training jerseys, that is done in standard, regular-season style, but the patterning stuff still goes on the back. The Mets have orange-on-white numbers on the front, and the patterned stuff on the back in white. Lordy, that's dumb.

Exactly. This is why I say the spring name and numbers all look like they're unfinished. Like if someone colored in the front numbers but didn't get a chance to do it for the back on time.

Looks like here's the official new Opening Day logo for this season. The jagged lines still look rather off to me...

I mean, I get the logic behind it.  The banner has to be 2D and sharp to match the font, and it has to look to be flowing because it always is.  But man does it look terrible...

Honestly, it looks like a "Back To The Future MLB Opening Day" logo.

Great minds think alike.  I mentioned it last week.  Looks like unfinished minor league crap.  B)

Looks like the older cap is a bit over exposed. it's probably the same.

Not sure why they'd have two product numbers for the same hat. not sure why one hat would be "New"; and both the older hat and the newer hat have the NE flag; Lids has both "New" and 2017 hats for high crown and low crown. If it was a photo problem, they'd just update the photo (as I give Lids the benefit of the doubt here).

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

There’s your first mistake.

They’re pretty good when it comes to putting the AC hats up. No other team has random duplicate hats up. They might jack up small details on their exclusives, but this looks like a legit change to me. Could be wrong.

EDIT: Just saw on NewEraCapTalk that the change is the NE flag going from white to silver. No change in hat color.

Thats the color scheme I’ve wanted the Brewers to adopt - royal and metalllic gold, using athletic gold for flat applications instead of beige.

I've had discussions with you about mixing royal and metallic gold (not with the brewers, but maybe it was the Rams?) and you were against it because of the "drabiness" of the gold (I think that's the word you used, but either way something to that effect.  I get that baseball and football are different, but I think it would look "drabbier" in baseball because the gold would be so minimal that it wouldn't stand out the same way that athletic gold would, while in football, it'd appear in much larger blocks where it could catch the sun and "sparkle", for lack of a better term.

All this talk about the Spring training numbers looking cheap, and it true generally but.

The ST numbers makes the Braves jerseys look better.

There's a handful of teams out there who should consider switching to white numbers, based on these ST jerseys.

Hmm.  I would think that the metallic fabric is used so much more sparingly in baseball that it would work better.  I sure wouldn’t want to see a jersey made out of it.   And in the case of the Brewers, it’s just an outline.  No great patches of gold, no gold numbers.  The Rams use the color a lot more than the Brewers.

And, of course, using athletic gold for all flat applications would be key.

Or maybe you just convinced me. :D

I like the navy on navy numbers, likewise the angels red on red. Why should numbers for all 30 teams be the same?

Not 100% sure the contract is still in effect, but lids ran both the website and physical stores for NE. The only exception is the flagship store in buffalo.
