Sure, you could put these on the underbrim.

But I still think the top of the document would be better.

US-original-Declaration-1776.jpg

Or even the top portion of the later printings, with "unanimous" and the blackletter type:

United_States_Declaration_of_Independenc

That’s a reproduction of the original, which contains “unanimous” and was written in Jefferson’s own blackletter and script hand. The top one is just a copy printed on a press with metal type.

I still don't have a website, but I have a dribbble now! http://dribbble.com/andyharry

According to Uniwatch, the Diamondbacks have eliminated both red hat options for this season.

That will give them 3 official hat options. All black for the most part.

4, actually:

  • Standard black
  • Black-to-red gradient
  • Teal outline
  • Snake head

Sorry, I'm on an iPad

Plus the throwback(s) - the purple is maybe not a full timer, but they've worn it regularly on throwback days.

Wearing black on your head in the Arizona summer sun? Thats :censored:ing brilliant

They play inside an airplane hanger, and most of the games are at night.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

Well there's little difference between a crimson polyester hat and a black polyester hat on a 108 degree afternoon.

People forget about the Snakehead.

I'd assume the Purple would be for the 1998, 1999, 2001, and 2002 throwbacks.  Who knows what they will end up doing for the other ones.

Exactly.  As someone who sweats profusely when it is hot as hell outside, I would suffer and soak straight through a black hat in that kind of heat.  The one good thing about MOST of the Diamondbacks games at home this season is that they're mainly all night time games.  About 20 or so are all before 5pm, with most being on the weekends.

IIRC, they talked about the jerseys that will be worn for the throwbacks, but little mention of the hats. The purple was the dominant home hat worn for the first 10 years, but I wonder if they bring out the white hat with purple brim.

Not sure.  I'd assume they'd try and keep within what was actually worn.  Purple for the 1998 and 1999 but the black D cap for the 2001 and 2002 jerseys

Why in tarnation would you put the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution on the underbrim of a baseball cap? They've gone from green to grey to black to help players see better, which having a bunch of words above your eyes all the time would not do at all.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

I believe they canned the standard black hat as well. So just the 3: gradient, teal outline, and the snake head.

And the 2001 vest isn’t apart of the standard rotation either for this season so that just makes the purple hat included in the special appearance hat lineup. But I do believe the 06 red and white jersey is going to be worn making the red hat they eliminated for the standard rotation a special appearance hat as well.

Is it bad that Chase Field always makes me think of Blofeld’s volcano base from You Only Live Twice?

Dumping the red caps makes the Diamondbacks’ identity a little less messy, but it doesn’t fix the nasty gradients or whatever the heck is up with the limits on the neon teal outlines. This team really should have just dropped red altogether in the favor of black/teal/metallic gold or a modernized teal/purple/gold.

It doesn’t matter what color hat you’re wearing, it’s going to be MISERABLE in Phoenix in the summer time.

Wait, really? They’re bringing back a set they literally JUST moved away from? This team’s identity is such a plane crash.

Is it just me, or do all pictures of the Kingdome interior look extra-depressing? Maybe it’s the bad lighting, the poorly-designed Mariners’ identity, ugly coloration, I’m not sure. It’s no wonder that the Mariners wanted out of that eyesore.

It's not just you, but I don't think it died with the Kingdome.

At least Minute Maid Park has some sandstone to lighten things up.  I'm really glad we didn't go with the interior concepts that were proposed for the Bronx and Queens.

Wow...  I never thought of that, but now that you said it it will be hard not to think of.

But the tresses and curves kinda remind me more of Safeco.

Having been to Miller Park several times (I live in Milwaukee), I must say that the concourses and the rear windows make it far lighter than the depressing Kingdome. I know some people may take umbrage at this, but I really do enjoy Miller Park. I don’t get the vibe of depression from it, unlike fixed dome stadiums.

The “umbrella” at Safeco does give it a bit of the volcano lair vibe, but it has a bit more charm than Chase Field/Ken Adam’s crowning achievement. At the very least, I don’t feel like sampling John Barry’s score when looking at Safeco.
