LeBron made 7 Finals in a row. You don't think he's playing in second gear? Everyone on that team is playing not to get hurt. They know what's more important. (Everyone except Jae Crowder, who kind of stinks and should be traded with that Brooklyn pick for Boogie.)

The fact that they're playing in "2nd gear" and "not to get hurt" just kind of proves how weak this Cavs team is. They 100% don't have that swagger or confidence they had before.

Steph is also playing not to get hurt, except that he is. Also, Draymond kind of sucks this year. Durant's having the best season of his career, so it keeps everything together. The Warriors are still the best team, but a motivated WOLVES, Rockets or Spurs team could beat them.

You watch FAR too much basketball for me to think that you honestly believe this assessment. You may actually WANT to believe that this is true, but deep down you know it isn't.

Spurs - They're looking good as usual and LMA is finally starting to live up to some of the expectations. But, they've shown hardly any signs of life vs the Warriors since, like, 2014, and their star player has a pretty shaky standing health-wise himself.

Rockets - Trendy pick! They're probably the only team that could match the Warriors in a game or two with a barrage of threes, but they can literally do NOTHING else as well as the Warriors do it. And that's WITH a healthy Chris Paul. The Rockets have about as good of a shot at making it to the WCF with him still intact as I do of waking up tomorrow with six pack abs.

Im not even going to dignify that Wolves addition with a long response. Thibs is absolutely running that team into the ground. They'll be first or second round hamburger meat.

These Clippers have been unexpectedly good and fun. I thought it would be a disaster season with all the injuries, but they've clawed their way to respectability. It helps that Doc Rivers is just a coach and isn't overloaded with GM stuff anymore. If Gallinari and Beverley were healthy, they could upset a lot of teams in the playoffs. Heck, they still might. I hope they face the Rockets in Round 1.

Just stop. Clippers are poop. They'll be in Seattle in 6 or 7 years or whenever their lease expires. That new arena in Inglewood is a dream. Nobody cares about the Clippers except 5 guys on here and some crack peddlers in Venice Beach.

If the fans had the outright vote for ASG starters the West would have looked like this ...

F - Kevin Durant

F - Draymond Green

F - Anthony Davis

G - Manu Ginobili

G - Stephen Curry

Yeaaaaaah ... I'm glad the NBA balanced out the vote with the media and players. Manu doesn't deserve to be anywhere near the ASG court this year.

At this point I’d prefer it if they added a ‘Legend of the Game’ spot to the All Star rosters. This way the most recognizable figures in the league appear in the showcase event, but they don’t take the spot of players who deserve to start thanks to their performances and not their fan base and name recognition. Make the media select it before the All Star voting begins, require that you need to have been 15 years in the league to qualify, and this way avoid Kobe starting every year despite being an inefficient scorer on a lottery team and taking a spot from one of the West’s myriad of deserving guards or the inevitable push for Dirk to be voted in as a starter when he’ll announce he’s retiring.

IDK why people assume The Cavs are a lock for the Conference or even NBA Finals (again), they aren't even the 2nd best team in the East.

Hell, there's a chance(albeit small) that they may not even win their divsion.

East All-Stars: LeBron, Giannis, Embiid, Irving, DeRozan

West: Steph, Durant, Boogie, Davis, Harden

All make sense, though I think Horford might have been a better choice than Embiid due to games played. But Joel is the superior talent.

Too bad Steph is the West captain. It would have been a lot of fun to see LeBron and Steph playing together. Hopefully we get James and Durant though.

It is still TOTAL BS that the players refused to have the draft televised.

BTW, if you haven't read Jackie MacMullan's Kyrie story (or the oral version via The Hoop Collective) try to do so.

I like what Steph said, that the last 2-4 guys picked are going to be unnecessarily humiliated, even though they're still All-Stars.

If they let Embiid be one of the drafters, that would be must see TV.  Dude might be the most fun player in all of pro sports.
