Different face and flames. You can say Seattle's logo is inspired by UAB but it's not a copy.

A different face and flames won't necessary save it if UAB decides to take the XFL to court over it.

That is a pretty uninspiring list of team names that Alpha Entertainment reportedly registered with the USPTO. Based upon what they were considering, I'd have probably ultimately unveiled...

Eastern Conference
DC Sentinels
New York Gothams
St. Louis Archers
Tampa Bay Vipers

Western Conference
Dallas Lobos
Houston Roughnecks
Los Angeles Legion
Seattle Dragons

Houston Nitro

Also, TIL the WNBA Houston Comets disbanded in 2008.

Houston Heat in honor of Harlem Heat who were actually from Houston.

Atlanta Nitro because of obvious reasons.

UAB can get in line. Vince stole my idea of naming a Seattle team the Dragons and there's a post or two somewhere on this sight to prove it.

It doesn’t even look out of place.

I have a feeling you’d get the same thing with a bunch of teams if you put their logo over their wordmark. It really shows off how good most of these logos are.

Haven't played a single game and the general public already looks at the league as inferior.

Why wouldn't they though? It's not the NFL (the top/most famous league despite it's faults and no matter if anyone likes it or not) and the previous XFL was such a disaster that how can anyone look at this updated XFL as anything but inferior until they prove otherwise both on and off the field?

Come on.  Be realistic.  You know going in that every coach, every player, every scout, every trainer, every official, every executive on the XFL payroll will jump at the chance to join the NFL as soon as possible.  The XFL is a secondary league, and that is all there is to say about it.  I don't know if you are an NFL-hater or just a big fan of alternative football, but you have to go into the XFL with a realistic view, if not with a grain of salt, because it is not the NFL in quality, funding or potential.  If you think the XFL is going to somehow roll over the NFL and become the predominant football league in the USA, you are in for a world of disappointment.  Might as well bet a huge sum of money on the Dolphins winning the Super Bowl this year.

Yeah, the burden of proof is definitely on the XFL.  We've seen too many of these fly-by-night minor leagues implode to give any new ones the benefit of the doubt, no matter how much money the owner has and may or may not spend.

If it's good, if it's sustainable, then they'll build credit in the eyes of the general public.  If you support the league, be patient.  Respect will come if it's due.

This will  be the last chance ever for a non-NFL league to make it. If the XFL bellys up, nobody should ever try again!  And honestly
IMO this sport is headed for extinction. I give it 30 more years(heck maybe 20 isnt too far fetched) tops then It will turn into something entirely different like flag football with light padding.

(well, unless 12 filthy rich zillionaires want to re-boot the USFL again, i would certainly welcome that one)
