NFL Ties

Why does the NFL not do ties? Lately, I have been seeing no ties, therefore, I assume ties are not in the NFL anymore. Why not? Ties are something to save the fans the agony of staying at the game forever.

The NFL, NHL, and NBA all need ties because otherwise games go on forever.

The NFL has games end in a tie. It's just uncommon becuase overtime is sudden death so the chance that someone scores in 15 minutes is likely.

The NBA doesn't have ties but there is so much scoring that multiple overtime games are sort of uncommon. The only happen a few times a year.

I thought it was a reference to a certain piece of men's clothing...

I was kinda hoping that this was in fact the topic being discussed so that I could lament the present state of attire for NFL coaches. Maybe I'm an old fuddy-duddy, but I preferred the days when NFL head coaches dressed in the style represented below by the best dressed NFL coach of all time.

Ties were common until overtime was introduced in 1974. They made the overtime one 15-minute sudden-death period so that the fans would not have to stay forever (at least not for a regular season game).
