Those Nike Puppet commercials that year were great Seriously this. We were robbed of an instantly classic Super Bowl XXXI: We got Patriots-Packers but we could've had Jaguars-Panthers, that would've been amazing to see two 2nd year teams in the Super Bowl Super Bowl LI: Cowboys-Steelers or Cowboys-Patriots
nash61 1,692 Posted March 14, 2018 No brainer on this one. 1993 Stanley Cup Finals. Toronto vs. Montreal for the final time. Instead, Kerry Fraser is blind, Gretzky gets away with murder, and the Kings get destroyed.

Red Wolf 5,525 Posted March 16, 2018 Super Bowl XXXIII: We got the Falcons vs. Broncos, when the money match would have been the Vikings and Broncos. The Vikings went 15-1 in the regular season, Randy Moss was setting the world ablaze, and the Vikings set the record for points scored in a season. Maybe the Broncos still roll, and Elway rides off into the sunset, but it would have been interesting to see. I think the Falcons were like 14-2, so it's not like they're were some crap team that lucked out, but they just weren't as sexy as Minnesota that year.

Nobody at that time (outside of Atlanta) thought they stood a chance against Denver. 14-2 can happen for lots of reasons, and everything broke their way that year. Wasn’t that Chris Chandler and Jamal Anderson? Minnesota would have given Denver a run for their money and had a legit chance to win the whole thing. Cunnngham was incredible that year.
chrispw12 123 Posted March 16, 2018 I wish we could have seen a Blackhawks Pens finals at some point in the last decade, Kane and Toews vs Crosby and Malkin but it never materialized as the Hawks run was during the Pens post season wilderness years and the Pens resurgence coincided with the Hawks drop off
floydnimrod 221 Posted March 16, 2018 Were were so close to an Indiana vs. Memphis NBA Finals in 2014. As someone who doesn't give a :censored: about TV ratings, I would have LOVED this (it didn't hurt that I'm a Grizzlies fan. And that Lance Stephenson was on the Pacers that year). 2003 NCAA Men's Championship. Marquette got blown out by Kansas in the Final Four, but it would have been cool to see Carmelo vs. D-Wade in college. 2013 NCAA Men's Championship. I was there and Wichita State had a lead before halftime against Louisville. I would loved a Michigan/Wichita State final. Last year's NCAA Men's Championship. A Pacific Northwest final would have been awesome with Oregon/Gonzaga.

4_tattoos 1,445 Posted March 18, 2018 Mike Tyson vs Evander Holyfield in 1991. When it was originally supposed to happen. Also, Tyson vs Lennox Lewis should have happened years earlier than it actually did.
SFGiants58 13,643 Posted March 18, 2018 2016 World Series: Blue Jays vs. Nationals - I just wanted to see the Blue Jays press the “Expos issue” against the Nationals. Invite Expos players to throw out first pitches, tease the possibility of playing a game at Le $hithole Olympique, etc.. Having it come during a wave of Expos nostalgia (which has died down since Montréal elected a new mayor) would have been especially fun.
waj287 27 Posted March 18, 2018 Cubs vs. Astros last season would have been fun to watch, I think.

Also, another rematch that would have been good would have been Tyson vs. Buster Douglas (if Douglas didn't let himself go out of shape, and if Tyson didn't go to jail).

Tyson vs Lewis happened in 2002. Mike was just a shell of his former self at that point and collecting paydays. Lewis while a lot closer to his prime than Tyson, was also starting to decline at that point.

Also the following year (I think?) when the Giants whipped the still-fun Vikings in the NFCCG only to get blown out by the Ravens in the Super Bowl.

That was two years later, and the Super Bowl we got in between stemmed from the death of the matchup I wanted to see most. Titans vs Buccaneers instead of the Rams. I’m still pissed about the call on that Bert Emmanuel catch.

Those early 2000s Buccaneers should have won more than they did.
