Better than NFL OT. Both teams get a chance.

Two tickets for $90 got you a Manziel replica jersey.
And about that announced attendance...

Quote

With 7:12 left in the second quarter — Memphis trailing, 16-8 — Manziel jogged onto the field to raucous applause.

It felt like every fan in the place (all 3,000 of them) had their cell phones out, capturing the moment in photos or video.

This is a minor league so going all-out on the gimmicks is a step in the right direction. Of course, the reason why minor league baseball endured is because of backing from major league clubs. Barring anything like that, this is pants-on-head stupid.

They are burning through Dundon's money hoping for the real bailout from the NFL.

And please don't call it a "minor league" or the league employee will call you out on it.

I was so confused as to why he kept motioning to the crowd to quiet down. He must have been having some serious radio issues with his helmet, that crowd of 3,000 was made up of the loudest people in the history of the world, or his hearing is gone from all the time spent partying in clubs.

I'm not saying he's not a real employee of the league. But I am saying that every single other person affiliated with the Alliance kept yelling at me through the TV that they were very minor league AND THAT'S OKAY!

Out of all of the alternative football leagues, the AAF is most active because they are playing.  The XFL has not hired any coaches/GMs since Mark Trestman, although a team president for Los Angeles was hired.  The APL has been very silent, Major League Football claims that they are going to kickoff and claimed to have a few tryouts a few weeks ago with a few more coming, and the Freedom Football League has been active on social media, but nowhere else.

Attendance for the Memphis game was 13,758. Not 3,000

The announced attendance was 13,758.

Calkins was at the game and was also there for the home opener.  Before taking a buyout/retirement from Gannett, he was the columnist for the Commercial Appeal and was with the paper for 22 years.  I don't think he's got a need to lie about what he was yesterday now that he has a radio show and works for a non-profit local news site.  He's seen enough small crowds at the Liberty Bowl to know what he sees.

For example, the blue chairbacks on the sidelines is a small number: 5,596 to be exact.

And this is the 4th Quarter last night.

They also claim that they've had no revenue from the last two years, but can afford to write a couple of hot checks for stadium deposits.  $30K for Virginia Beach

The same MLFB who has been unable to get their football equipment back from the landlord because they don't have the money.

Quote

The accompanying unaudited financial statements have been prepared assuming the Company will continue as a going concern. As reflected in the accompanying unaudited financial statements, the Company had no revenues and net cash used in operating activities of $205,167 and $249 for the nine months ended January 31, 2019 and 2018, respectively. Additionally, at January 31, 2019, the Company has a working capital deficit of $3,467,792, an accumulated deficit of $27,035,920 and a stockholders' deficit of $3,467,292, which could have a material impact on the Company's financial condition and operations.

In view of these matters, recoverability of any asset amounts shown in the accompanying unaudited financial statements is dependent upon the Company’s ability to achieve a level of profitability. These matters raise substantial doubt about the Company’s ability to continue as a going concern for a period of one year from the date of the filing of the Company’s Form 10-Q with the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”). Since inception, the Company has financed its activities from the sale of equity securities and from loans. The Company intends on financing its future development activities and its working capital needs largely from the sale of public equity securities and convertible debt securities, until such time that funds provided by operations, if ever, are sufficient to fund working capital requirements. Specifically, we will need to raise approximately $3 million between March and April 2019 and a subsequent raise and offerings of $20 million between April 2019 and July 2019, to cover our operating expenses for a full 2019 training camp and playing season in our designated cities. The unaudited financial statements do not include any adjustments relating to the recoverability or classification of recorded assets and liabilities that might result should the Company be unable to continue as a going concern.

It is a single-entity league (for now) so any status Eminem would have in said hypothetical AAF Franchise (Let's say, the Detroit Firebirds as said name not only represents Detroit's automotive industry but also the rebirth of Detroit) would be purely ceremonial. That being said, Detroit might not be a bad idea considering that they have a domed stadium. Part of me also wouldn't mind seeing any sort of resurrection of the Michigan Panthers identity either.

MLS is still single-entity as well. They could let someone manage one of the teams as an operator for a sizable investment. Would be the best way to branch out.

Detroit Stallions actually fits, they could redo the logo to fit the auto industry. I wonder what the AAF would want for an owner/operator to pay in. $25 million? That would seem to be the top end of what they could ask and get actual buyers. For comparison I believe USL is $20-$30 million for a franchise.
