Sometimes it's impacted by the context of what's being replaced.  That piping-rich set replaced a much better set than this one is replacing.

I get that. But our collective short-term memories can't be that bad, can they? I mean, these are ridiculous.

It's certainly not the best uni in the league, but it's a huge upgrade over the clown suits they've been wearing the last few years. To me that's a win.

It is definitely possible to avoid the L and still not win. This is, at best, a case of that.

I really wanted to like the single color numbers. I have a real soft spot for them because they can feel both old school and modern at the same time, but I don't like them here. They make the jersey look incomplete without contrasting outlines, so that's kinda disappointing. Overall, I still think the new uniforms are good, not great, but good. I love the glossy helmet. That's how the Jaguars' helmet should look. The number font is cool as hell. I like the accent stripes around the collar and I think the diagonal sock stripes are a unique touch that isn't kitschy.

I don't like: the black numbers on the white jersey, they should be teal for the sake of color balance. Speaking of color balance, I could stand to see some gold incorporated into the uniforms

beyond the logos, but it's not a deal breaker here. The pants need something more of a stripe. They are a little too plain for my taste, but I get what they were going for. I really dislike the empty sleeves. Put the jaguar logo or TV numbers there, but the need something.

If they wear sensible combinations (not monochrome) most of the time, I think these uniforms will Iook great on the field.

I watched some of the presentation, and the Jags seemed to focus on London and how they were behind other teams in revenue. It sounded like a franchise that wanted to make more money and the common thinking in sports has often been that black merchandise sells better. For that reason, I suspect they made black their primary. The fans who like teal will have that option available, but I think they feel their data suggests they can monetize black jerseys better.

Even a simple pant stripe that reduces in thickness as it goes down (kind of like the color stripes) would have helped this uniform a lot.

Blank pants are the worst look in football. Ravens, Saints and now the Jaguars look like they are wearing pajama bottoms.

It almost feels like they were trying to go "traditional" as in COLLEGE traditional. Penn State, Alabama, USC even, etc. The teal jersey is more than fine, but the black is waaaay too boring. You'd need to make changes to the teal to tie in any changes to the black right? Just a number trim in black or gold. Pant stripes. Really would've helped. It's just a shame it sounds like the black is going to be the primary.

Really? Worse than ridiculous fonts, or team names that run down the pants leg, or matching pants and socks?

OK, you got me, not worse than team names running down pants, or digital clock font numbers, but still bad.

I'll call it a fair catch, to use a football term. They're overly safe. They went so far the other direction that now they're wearing what might be the most purposely bland uniforms in league history. The funny thing is I used to hate the helmet and thought the uniforms were fine. Now the helmet is my favorite part while the uniforms are the weak link.

If all they had done was fix the helmets and kept the old unis I wouldn't have hated that. Losing the two tone helmet makes the identity an instant upgrade, but they could've done so much better.

I blame Coughlin for this bland uniform.  The Jags have swung way too far away from modern with this uniform.  They were a few tweaks on their last set to having a great, modern look.  After seeing these, I'd rather take the Titans' set because at least they tried to do something different instead of not trying at all in the Jags' case.

Chris Negron (twitter name) posted this photoshop on the Jags' tweet.

So simple and would have made these a lot less plain Jane looking.

I still would have hated the yoga pants but this would have had much more life to them.
