Return to Roots: Los Angeles Rams Rebrand

The Rams have returned to LA, and with a new city, comes the need for a new identity. The lackluster branding that we have now has motivated me to rebrand the Rams towards a new style that the fans would appreciate.

First up is the new Ram logo. The old St. Louis logo was the best Ram logo the Rams had during their team history, standing the test of time for over 15 years. To orient the logo to the new LA fanbase, and to distance themselves from their stint in St. Louis, a dodger-like "LA" is implemented into the Ram, with the cartoonish eyes and mouth being eliminated to give the logo a more sleek, mature look. The navy blue is replaced with the team's royal blue that was utilized during their final years in LA.

Next up is the wordmark. The font choices and the layout of the logo are intended to pay homage to the Rams' classic Los Angeles wordmark, shown below.

I like the intended idea but the execution is a little off. The logo has so much going on as it is and could stand for some simplification imo. Maybe just a cleaned up/modernized version of the St Louis Ram or a full body redesign for LA. As for the current logo, Id say remove the LA and add eyes to the Ram.

Or remove the double lines that are intended to represent the L in LA. The shape of the logo would allow you to pull off the "LA" while not adding any extra lines.

UNIFORMS:

The jerseys are a mixture between the modern St. Louis jerseys and the LA/GSOT throwbacks. There are two pant options that can be mixed/matched: white/blue or yellow/blue.

 

Home: Yellow is reintroduced as the primary home color. The pant design is kept traditional with a blue stripe. The new wordmark is implemented into the front of the jersey. 

 

Away: The jersey + pant combo is meant as a callback to the LA/GSOT unis, in which the Rams won their first super bowl in. 

 

Alternate Navy: The color matchups would be kept traditional against Seattle and San Francisco in their two home games per season.

 

COLOR RUSH: For color rush, I wanted to try something fun, unique, and different. In Cleveland they first utilized Navy and Red for their unis, and for a short period of time in LA they utilized red and yellow. 

Since the 60s Blue and white uniforms were already beat to death in the Rams current unis, I wanted to pay homage to the Rams' early usage of navy/red/yellow with this uniform set. The helmet isn't completely changed to red due to the NFL one-shell rule, so a red facemask is implemented as a compromise.

I feel like the uniforms looks like it could apply to a college more than to a professional team. But I LOVE the idea you had with the alternate, combining the 50's red-gold with the current blue and yellow. Looks awesome.
