derekh3645
I'm doing a rebrand concept for a college team, and I'm looking for some constructive criticism on the secondary logo. Even if it's a small critique, every little bit helps!
BigRed618
Does the circle need to be skewed like that? Almost looks like the guy's wearing a space helmet.
DeadFish
Looks great, but are the facial features a little off - the mouth reads to me as a profile, while the rest as a 3/4. Does is need to extend further, past the width of the nose?

C-Squared
I really like the use of negative space for the headband & the hair/beard in general is really well-rendered... there are a few elements that might not "shrink down" well, like the shadows near the eye and nose... the design might feel a bit more modern with some sharpened details, a less cartoon-ish eye, but if you are going for more of the vintage college icon style, I think you're on the right path! derekh3645
Thanks for the feedback everyone... Yeah the halo does look off, so to avoid the space helmet look I wanted to update it as a straight-on logo. I think this looks much better and will also allow for the school name inside the brown of the halo. Still, any suggestions are more than welcome! builtbymachines
New version is better. I think maybe the gray shading on the face should go all the way up to the hairline, and possibly close off the top of the head? Definitely the shading though... And are those the team colors, black and white, or is this just a version to flesh out some detail? Because no color or wordmark seems kind of bland. Don't get me wrong, it's an excellent piece, just needs some team based flair now.

And I closed off the top of the head with shading as well, which I think looks better. Yes, the school colors are (dark) brown and white, with some gray as an accent. I have a primary logo and wordmarks as well, but just felt that I needed some input on the secondary friar logo.

DTConcepts
I like it! I just don't like that little curved line by the chin. I can't tell if it's just his chin, or if it's a smile, or if it's a beard or something. Just a little confusing. "You ain't gonna learn what you don't wanna know..." Whitefoot
Maybe a thicker 'stach or a 'stach that connects as a full beard. GoT reference: The Hound's beard is more intimidating than Littlefinger's beard.
derekh3645
I agree a full beard looks better on him. I also wanted to make him more "jolly" and lively, since it's a friar... As well as give it a sort of vintage college mascot feel.
DTConcepts
Much better. His eyes seem angry but the rest of his face seems happy. That's the only "complaint" I've got here. "You ain't gonna learn what you don't wanna know..."
Eriko86
Your design is awesome, even it deserves to be in a football team, have you think about it?
SplashBoogie
I like version right before you went full roundel. If you deleted the line under the chin I think you'd have a winner. That said if you're set on moving to the latest version, I think the Friar would look better more stoic or if you have to make him smile have as a closed mouth smile. He admittedly scares me a little bit as is.
