Okay, so as you do in May, I was online looking at Lions jerseys on lids.com of all places , and I saw 2 different jerseys: one from what it says is 1996, and one that says 1993, HOWEVER, look at those TV numbers!!!!

Now look me in the goddamn face and tell me these are the same :censored:ing fonts.

Do it, tell me it's nothing. I :censored:ing dare you. Tell me its fine to buy a $250 'authentic' jersey that doesn't even have real double stitching on any part of the goddamn numbers. :censored:ING DO IT. Make sure to plan your funeral in advance.

Hell, not only does the font not match the original, one of the jerseys has two different fonts for the front numbers and TV numbers! Look at the sleeves of the 93, the 2 doesn’t have the serif at the bottom while the front number does

I'm not sure why there's so much hostility in the original post. Usually when Mitchell and Ness get details wrong, I don't buy the product, and I go do something else.

I feel ya.  M&N frustrates me when they can't even get Philadelphia throwbacks exactly right, and they're based here and started making Philly jerseys.  I'm fairly certain they even made on-field ones at one time.

 

Granted, the details I'm talking about are not as egregious as using a totally wrong font, but it's all stuff that wouldn't be hard to get right, and as you stated, the resources are out there.

 

As for the harshness of the consequences you have in mind for them, you need to chill with that.  Nobody besides Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb deserves a fate like that.

But if I was really in need of a Barry Sanders jersey, I would HAVE to. The main problem I really have with M&N isn’t their failure to create authentic throwbacks, rather it’s that they’re the only ones making them with high quality materials, or just the only ones outright. I wouldn’t care if there was a better option on the market, but since they’re able to add $100 to the price of their jersey just because of a patch you can stitch on yourself for $10 and some effort AND fail at making that jersey look like the one it’s supposed to be replicating, I feel it’s justified to get upset.

 

As for like the threats and stuff, I already explained it’s for entertainment.

The thing you have to understand about pre-2000 jerseys is that the numbers were stock shop styles, and sometimes even cut by hand until the 1990s ushered in widespread computer technology, and teams often ended up with slightly different styles from year to year. Sometimes they overlapped, even in the same year, in the same game, or even on the same player. Here’s Barry with a 2 exactly like what’s pictured for the 1993 M&N jersey just a season later in 1994.

 

 

With that said, when you’re replicating a single player’s jersey as opposed to an entire team’s, it’s theoretically a lot easier to come to a clean consensus on what the style of number should be, and The narrower ones would have been the best choice for 1993. The 1996 one is billed as a replica, so take it for what it is. Either way, why not do a 1997 in honor of his 2,000 yard MVP season?

For some reason I knew these things but also I didn’t? Thank you for letting me know about the latter, because I usually get extremely upset at MLB replica and authentic jerseys (made by majestic I know) for failing to stitch ALL the parts that should be stitched, i.e. on the Astros home jerseys they don’t stitch the blue, only the orange onto the jersey. Then they have the AUDACITY to screen print FAKE STITCHING onto the blue

Don’t get me wrong. Many times they aren’t accurate. It’s not always apathy that causes it, either. Sometimes it’s just the wrong person looking at it, and it skips design and goes straight to production without anyone realizing it should be different.

 

Keep demanding accuracy. The more people that do, the better the industry will get.
